This the review of Dorf Romantik (aka Dorfromantik) an early access Steam game, after 40 hours of gameplay. What is it like to play, look no more I'll tell you. Is it worth buying? I'll give you that answer as well.

Haven't played the game yet myself (hence coming here and checking out what people have to say.) But this review was excellent. Clear, covered a lot of stuff that other reviews would ignore or glance past, good and analytical about the bad points, and good stuff to say about the good. Really good level-headed review. Really enjoyed this review, I game and it's very much worth the cost. The music and relaxed feeling is what a older gamer like me has come to like. I'm big with deck builders and slow paced games. This one I can see myself chilling to with a cold drink or kicking back outside on the porch.

Seems like this could use multiplayer co-OP. Would be fun and frustrating to take turns. Could even have rival countries that develope cute military with skirmishes in some modes

good review and I really like the format of the video, whish more people would adopt this type of format. I watch lots of Splattercatgaming and wanderbots, Splatty can be a bit too short or just not enough details and wanderbots is too much lets play both good and not quite everything I need when I just want to decide "Should I buy this game". So ty and off I got to buy it on sale off of steam.

Hay Bad, thanks for those comments. It is tricky, I find a particular format works well. For me, like you said, there is a balance between too much and too little. Appreciate it.

Since this video was made, they have added a creative mode. Also, you can now save the game. When you reopen (and it opens very quickly), it just resumes from where you left off. I'm not sure if they've done anything about the randomness but TBH, it has not been an issue for me. It's just part of the game (look at Carcassonne for example). What they have added though, is a monthly challenge, where everyone gets the same stack of tiles. There are different rules each month which keeps it fresh. Essentially everyone is in the same boat and it gives your score and position. They also have a competition for creative mode, where you try and make the most beautiful landscape. In summary, I have would say it's improved considerably since the time of this review and now even better value for money!

Hello Mr interesting name...ha...yes I do know they did some updates, added "free building", more tiles - honestly it was a lot of fun as it was, I'm sure it has only got better.

You said that the game has too much randomness in it, and that you wished it focused more on skill. But there are many games that do both. Take the card game, Poker, for example. I don't think anyone would argue that Poker doesn't take skill to play. But in poker you are also subjected to a lot of randomness. The hands you can play depend on what cards you are dealt. This game is similar in that regard. You are, basically, dealt a hand and it's up to you to determine how best to play your, "cards".

It's out now, physical, for the Switch. I have never played it before. Would you recommend it for 600+ SEK (what it would cost to buy and get to me physically)?

It is a very good game for what it is. A game will easily take you 30-40 mins if you think about each placement. I really enjoy it is a game that I can dip back in to. Your call - like all games it just depends on what you like. But it is good fun.
