I remember the hurricane that went across the keys and up the west coast. So much over exaggeration. I remember the news guy in front of the hotel holding his rain hood making it look like he was going to blow away and then the manager of the hotel comes out without a jacket looking like a light summer shower to talk to the cameras. Context is the reason why Levi's analysis of Hurricane Dorian is superior to MSM ! Few others mention: Troughs, low or high pressure fronts and their causal relationship. I always watch the lead Ad. in hopes your channel gets a the well deserved cut. Tropicaltidbits warrants a minimum million subscribers. Orlando will be watching TropT. next Hurricane .

Agreed! I actually found this channel from some caribbean sailing channels, who HIGHLY recommended this channel as a no-nonsense forecasting YT channel. Obviously sailors in the caribbean, need to keep a tight look at the weather, and use numerous resources. This channel is golden! I am dumbfounded that TT doesn't have 200k+ subscribers! Everyone along the east coast and gulf coast should be subscribed and have alerts set.

I second the comment that hands down you provide the best overall understanding of these storms. I live in Central Florida and just like with the other hurricanes, it is not possible to get TRUE updates from the news station since each has different forecasts/updates. The national hurricane center does not real provide up to date info or it is definately lacking. Thank you.

As a Central Floridian, i appreciate your forecasts. As good as they are to understand I appreciate the time it must take to make one. However, it would be nice to get one in the morning and one in the evening. Once the storm goes north, people will be hitting the beach with metal detectors. Storms often uncover treasures from old ships; they find old coins off and on there, its a great place to look, being so close to the Caribbean...

As a Florida resident, who has been through at least 9 or 10 of these monsters... BUT I am, by no means, an expert... It is my understanding that most of the tornadic activity occurs in the Northeast quadrant of the hurricane. Dorian doesn't present that side to Florida, but perhaps the Carolinas may be impacted by tornadoes. But, I would also like some clarification on this point as well.

The Storm Prediction Center does forecast a slight risk of tornadoes in South Carolina and North Carolina, though this threat is expected to be confined within a few dozen miles of the coastline.

Since Dorian's prediction as a threat to FL's Space Coast where we live, I've been on your website very frequently & awaited every video. The spaghetti models initially forecasted charleston sc, then forecasted any=EVERYWHERE from Jacksonville to Miami!?! (*the storm STOPPED DEAD FOR NEARLY 30 HOURS STR8 & winds increased pre bahamas from 140mph to 190mph in 3/6-hours, etc.) And now BACK @CHARLESTON AGAIN?!? (*they were RIGHT TO QUESTION THIS ABSOLUTE MOTHER-FUCKING BULL+SHIT!?!)... #fyiJSY

@@nuckymancini7013 Anybody that puts that much stock in forecasts that are 5+ days out needs to for sure get better at following how these things work. I live in Tampa Bay and most we did was late Thursday casually buy a couple cases of water, and just made sure our "hurricane plan" was in place (made it a point to have a good one after the Irma debacle). After that, we just waited because we knew at that point we weren't going to know for sure what was happening until probably Saturday or even Sunday. NHC called the storm slowing down significantly about 3 days ago, and at that point I already started feeling better about the trend North. I'm from Miami and have a lot of friends and family over on the East coast, and they pretty much did the same thing. It's embarrassing some of the crap I saw people doing on social media when the first "hysteria" over the storm's direction got forecasted. lol

Raleigh here. Hoping it doesn’t regain much strength crossing more warm water from the Gulf Stream. The more strength it gains the more of an inland threat I think it could be come. I’m good with some rain for the gardens but cool on winds!

It's amazing how it pulls up warm water but it drops a shitload of cold water I was just out at the Fort Pierce jetty and got blasted with cold water. The winds are so high there and that's the bottom part of the storm.

Competing steering currents cancelled each other out which basically caused the storm to spin like a top for a moment in place. An area of high pressure to the North was waiting on a front to come push and weaken its Western side, but that ended up getting a bit delayed which allowed for stall. Absolute worst case scenario for the Bahamas.

No doubt this guy is the best hurricane forecaster and weather tell-about-er of all time, imo. I am so glad I stumbled across this from seeing it used on another channel. And it sure doesn't hurt that he has the absolute most listenable voice of anyone.

I’m from New Orleans, definitely seen my share of hurricanes. Nobody is talking about the fact this hurricane is backwards! The east side, northeast quadrant to be exact is the worst weather associated with hurricanes!! This storm is almost perfectly calm on the east and Everything is on the west, the worst is on the southwest quadrant. So whatever is happening is upside down?? Ass backwards!!

I agree with you. In 504 for years now and lately many of these hurricanes that “park” have this pattern. It’s not rt. Eldest lived through Betsy, and said that same thing yesterday...strange.

Levi, Thank you for your clear, direct and concise forecast. Excellent and very professional, yet very easy to follow. I visited your sites and saw that you are a grad student at FSU. Great team of meteorologists here. I live in Tallahassee and graduated from FSU. Excellent school of Oceanography and Meteorology. Obviously....A good friend of mine works in the school of Met....Very smart as well. I'm looking forward to your next forecast. Thanks for doing this. This is the only one that has made sense to me.
