Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Levi is currently a Ph.D. candidate in tropical meteorology at Florida State University, and completed his bachelors degree in applied physics with a concentration in atmospheric physics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

I live in south Florida so I’m well aware of the dangers. And maybe I worded it wrong. I hope that no storms hit and cause devastation. I just look forward to Levi explaining how and where storms are going.

After Maria, a person could say, "Oh, it's just this Tropical Storm...." Well, I rode out Harvey, but I remember a Tropical Depression in 1979 that flooded out my area worse than Harvey did. I am talking about rainfall at landfall, and NOT the flooding Houston received from Harvey.

Exactly. Here in Jax we haven't had to worry one bit but this one seems to be headed a little too close for comfort. Lets see what those highs and lows ahead of the storm do.

I live in Central Florida East Coast, Charlie was supposed to go up the West coast of Florida and at the last minute it took a right turn and went across Central Florida like a buzz saw! It was Friday the 13th and the day of my grandfathers funeral! Had to rush home and board up! My 1st Hurricane, and of course we were partying with our friends! Down side, one hell of a mess to clean up outside the next morning!
