Fantastic race. Happy for Dornoch. Also, Mindframe proved me wrong. He more than belonged in this race. What shocked me was that Seize the Grey ran out of gas and plummeted as far as he did.

If checked all of their last 3 furlongs and 2 and half furlongs, Mind Frame had the fastest. He lost the Belmont Stakes by half a length because it was too much for him to cope of Irad's left whip. Nevertheless he will prove that he will be 3 yrs old Champ. That's why Mr. Repole skipped with his overated Fearsness.

Dornoch, with 17-1 odds, won the 156th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, beating a handful of contenders widely believed to have a greater chance of winning. “It was perfect,” jockey Luis Saez (age 32, born in Panama) said of Dornoch's run to fend off Mindframe (7-2 odds). Trainer Danny Gargan got his first victory in a Triple Crown race. This year's Belmont Stakes was raced at Saratoga and run at 1.25 miles instead of the traditional 1.5 miles because of renovations at Belmont Racetrack. That should be notable for handicapping since typically for the Belmont it's important to look at horses that can go the distance.
Many of the big name handicappers gave "faint praise" to Dornoch, which kind of makes me extra happy for him -- although I love so many of these 3-year-old colts! Sure wish the New York Racing Association would have given those of us who depend on AMERICA'S DAY AT THE RACES a better 'heads up' about the blackout today. If there was an announcement on the June 7th show, I missed it. I was really surprised and disappointed about that when I tried to tune in today.. Still -- it's great to be able to watch all the races -- even if it's after-the-fact.
@@VanessaBrown-fb6ueI had Dornoch, Sierra Leon and Honor Marie for a trifecta box…. Mindframe looked good but I was worried he would be outclassed.. 🤦🏾♂️Proved beyond any doubt he belonged.. The win payout made me happy again though. For $2.40 I should’ve boxed the super and had mindframe in there. Smh 🤦🏾♂️
Pletcher Was Asking Alot Of MINDFRAME In His 3rd Lifetime Start Stretching Out From 8.5 To 10f. Not Surprised He Was Tired & Veering In & Out Plus Still Green. There Was DEFINITELY A Speed Bias All Day On The Main Track & DORNOCH Finally Got To Run His Race!
Congrats to Dornoch and Jockey and owner(s) and team!!! SL well done champ. You worked hard for your money. someone needs to race cars not horses 'just saying'
idk but ever since the cracking down on the doping game these races have been so exciting. the most exciting i have seen in 20 years. A race when just about any horse has a shot and it comes down to the wire is real horse racing, not these drugged up triple crown winners that win with ease. Keep the clean racing, its wayyy more exciting!! congrats Dornoch and team.
I really like this comment. Danny Gargan and Gustavo Delgado and Jena Antonucci all have classic stakes wins that would’ve been hard to come by 5 years ago. The racing and the wagering are more enjoyable. Churchill Downs sticking to their guns has paid off.
Congratulations to Dornoch and his connections, including trainer Danny Gargan. I am sure his father would be proud of this day. He rode Pvt. Smiles in the legendary 1973 Belmont Stakes but passed away about two years later.
@@JFKMLK Cordero was on My Gallant, Pincay was on Sham, Baeza was on Twice a Prince, and Turcotte was on Secretariat. Gargan was the first and so far only jockey in the 1973 race to have passed away. He was just 31 years old when he died in a car accident.
@ValleyoftheRogue thank U so much , I didn't know that, and I know Ronnie is in a wheel chair bc of a racing Fall in 1978, and yes Angel is in his mid 80s and is a jockey agent and pincays son is a racing personality on TV 📺, what was Danny's dad first name , I'm see if I can do more research on that, and thanks again
@@JFKMLK Danny Gargan. The son is named after him. There is a multi-part series of videos posted on the Vintage North American Horse Racing YT channel of the 1973 Belmont, and Chic Anderson is seen in part 2 briefly interviewing the jockeys including Danny.
@ValleyoftheRogue ok, great info. I didn't know they had the same name, lol 😆 and I will check out that RU-vid channel, I think I might have seen it now that U bring it up ,but I'm not sure bc I think Jim McCay on ABC, wide world of sports or the announcer for CBS, think his was jack Wilkinson or something like that also interview some jockeys before that Belmont stakes
Dornoch finally gets his win. They’ve been Pullin for mage’s brother. If it would have been the full length of the Belmont seirra might have got it his win. Still breaking left at the end😂
Great race good race call the Belmont at Sarato 2:43 ga takes getting used to but I'm sure it was sweet up there but what's the Belmont without long lines to get on the train and Jamaican beef patties ya mon
Watch head on replay of Tyler on the 7 and pray on the 9. Tyler was angry about being taken off the horse and took him out in the stretch. Killed the 9 from building his momentum when he wanted. This angle shows a slight brush but the head on will show a complete wipe out.
I don’t mindframe bumped Sierra Leone coming out the gate then Mindframe was all over the place coming down the stretch I chose a horse to upset him DORNACH ❤❤
@VanessaBrown-fb6ue, I think you need to rewatch the start. Sierra Leone stumbled out of the gate & then went into Mindframe. Then he ricocheted off him into Honor Marie & bumped him into Protective. Which caused Honor Marie to get pinched
Mindframe is the best 3 yrold currently. He proved it. Racing 4 wide the first turn a then drifting out a easy 8 lengths to still find a gear to get a very close second
Dornoch is the best horse running right now he has beat Sierra Leone twice I beleave he had no chance in the derby with post one so throw that race out I heard the announcer on fox say Sierra Leone was the best three year old running as usual the so called experts we're wrong
Gafflione plays bumper cars going into SL on the final turn....he will be measured for cement shoes before he gets back to the tarmac at Albany airport.
Sierra Leone just can’t get out of his own way. Lousy break, the lugging. Poor Chad must pull what’s left of his hair out over this horse. He’s a freight train coming down the stretch, but for 2.3 million, he’s got to do better than this.
No. Mindframe was reacting from the crop. It surprised Irad, but considering he's never felt the crop before. Plus it's only his third lifetime start, he's still learning
They would have had to start the race on a turn because the oval is smaller than Belmont and NY racing officials didn't want to do that. This race and the 2025 Belmont will have an asterisk.
I disregard this as a Belmont Stakes. If it's not raced at Belmont race track it's not a Belmont Stakes. Just another grade 1 stakes race. Would have been a totally different outcome at "Old Sandy"!
Era otra carrera si iran Ortiz pega con la derecha ganaba por un cuerpo su caballo canbio de Mano en Los 50 finales voto la carrera papa la proxima gana por 5 cuerpos
Rewatch the start of the race. SL stumbled & bumped Mindframe. SL then ricocheted off Mindframe into Honor Marie, causing him to get pinched by protective. SL has an issue with veering in since he did it again at the top of the stretch. That issue could get someone seriously injured
Sorry, but I'm laughing my ass off at anyone who would call this race anything but a trial for the Belmont. The Belmont Stakes is run over 12F at Big Sandy, not 10F at Saratoga, and anyone who thinks this remotely resembled how taxing an actual Belmont Stakes run should look up any survivers that were involved with Secretariat or Seattle Slew or Affirmed and ask them. Or check with those involved with American Pharoah or Justify. I mean hell, the first Saturday in May, 2025 why not run over a mile on the dirt at Keeneland and will call it the Kentucky Derby.
Thrilling race. I like the announcer. But if you lived in the Chicagoland area, the best horse race announcer was the late great Phil Georegoff. Find and listen to some of his calls and you’ll understand what I’m saying.
Remember this , this race was ran at a mile and a quarter, the Belmont Stakes is historically a mile and a half, Sierra Leone wins easily this race if it were a mile and half
Hello? Mindframe drifting? Fuckin why can't I find one comment on Irad cracking him with the left? It's like he thought he was on Arrogate in the Classic. He wasn't.
Sierra Leon needed a mile half. Bad move to switch jockeys nothing changed, at least Tyler knows the horse. I know better NY tracks never run right especially when it's the Belmont. Look what happened to Big Brown back in the day same bullshit different day. Smarty Jones
