Fuck, Dorothy. I don't think any of us knew you were going through all that shit these last few years. I'm so glad you were able to find the Light at the end of the tunnel and were able to make this album! It changes my perspective on the whole body of work. It's truly a Gift from the Holy Ghost to you, through you, and to all of us!
Loved the interview. Thank you for this. God bless you Dorothy. You mentioned Dolly as an influence, you know she said if she was going into the rock hall she was making a rock album, maybe you could possibly could get involved with that. I think that would be awesome. Just a thought.🙂
This is one of the best albums in the last 20 years. Musically, so much going on; it harkens back to music talent from the 70's through the 90's. Amazing stuff. And Dorothy's vocals are out of this world.
I’m really loving the new album! Definitely a return to the more rock and raw of the 1st album and I’m hooked! Hope to see you perform live next time you come through Seattle. 🤘
“Gifts” is the most raw, honest complete rock album produced in years. The stories of struggle and loss are heart wrenching yet her journey to redemption is so inspiring. My only question is why so many of songs from this album are missing in the set list of the current tour… Beautiful Life and Rest in Piece are currently in the rotation but in a 12 song set I’d be very grateful for a few more tracks off this amazing album to be played by the time they get to Sacramento. Hey a guy can ask right.
Ahh enjoy dude! I’m missing the sac show for work but I think I might drive down to Anaheim to catch her! I caught that with the set lists too. I love 28 Days in the Valley, but this album has some bangers that need to be included on this tour
@@Cliff_Booth Since I don’t know when Dorothy is coming back this way I’m going to Reno AND Sacramento show. These songs and this band are just to good to pass on this opportunity. Be safe good sir
I just saw Dorothy as part of a four bill. I don’t know how I found her but I found Rest in Peace on RU-vid and said I have got to find out more about her. To make it a bit short, she only had a 30 minute set. I would love to catch her with a longer set; maybe with Evanescence or Halestorm? I can dream, can’t I?
I saw Dorothy for the first time at a breaking Ben concert right before covid and she was the one band that stuck with me that day. Her voice is absolutely insane live! I have been hooked since. Her story, her songs are so relatable to me and I’m sure sooo many others around the world. Keep singing and do what your doing Dorothy, your voice touches souls 🤘🏻❤
Tried to send this to you on Instagram but it said you didn’t accept messages on there. Hopefully you might see it here…. Hi Dorothy, I just watched your interview with Matt and I felt compelled by your story to reach out and quickly share what your music has meant to me. I fell in love with your beautiful voice when I heard it for the first time on an episode of Wynonna Earp. Discovering your new album has meant so much to me. I was diagnosed years ago and suffer daily from crippling depression and anxiety. Listening to your voice makes me feel a little less alone. You played in Omaha, Nebraska recently and I had looked forward to going and see you for weeks. Unfortunately the day of your show I had an intense panic attack and sunk deep into my depression so far I couldn’t even get out of bed to shower let alone come to your show. I’ve been heartbroken since, but I’m hopeful you’ll come back again someday. I just hope you know how amazing you are and how your courage and resilience shine through your beautiful music. If you took the time to read this, thank you. I wish you nothing but the very best.
Absolutely love your story. God's got you. To come back from adversity time and time again shows you have purpose. Your music is so empowering and inspirational. Thank you for being who you are.
I “found” Dorothy via a video clip of Flawless... I went out that day to buy the cd. Then I found Rock is Dead. And now GFTHG is holy grail. So sooooo good. What’s coming to me was such a beautiful gift to all of us too. Thank you & I look forward to seeing you again soon 🙏🏼
That album is iconic! Songs, sound, production and that huge VOICE all together define one of my new alltime fave records! I love every second of that masterpiece! Thank you Dorothy for the goosebumps and sparkling moments!
Brilliant interview, and thank you for sharing your story.. love you crew X The things you go through in life is like a training course that is designed to make you a better person and give you the qualifications to help others... X I play your beautiful life song when I cruise on my boat, my home..and the gods are listening . Xx
Incredible Album !....Absolutely awesome. Dorothy your music is so full strength and courage. Please know that your message and your music has given me further inspiration in my own recovery journey. Thank you and God Bless !!......
Great to get to learn a little of your story. The new album is great, and have enjoyed hearing you grow with each album. Now knowing you grew up listening to some classic country I'd like to hear you do something in that genre. Happy to see you doing well!
I loved this, I'm so glad you keep everyone in the present. Her story I've never heard and her words getting out are reaching a whole knew level of truths that I've been feeling or sensing. The world is struggling and her message really is helping me as of now. She really is a force to be reckoned with, and those along the way have contributed to that whether for good or for worst. But like the said she is resilient and is more than enough. I believe in a higher power too and that makes me feel not so alone coming from someone so influential. Also her background of music, those songs were gold. I'm grateful for all the people who have helped her, she has turned into a wonderful person!
I really love this album. I'll always listen to it two or three times in a row. It goes by so quickly, and each track is triumph. So once the album finishes, I'm not satisfied and I always just play it again. I'll repeat this process one or two times. My favourite track is track 9, Made To Die, man that song is so good! Again, great album!
This album is the greatest and should be listened to on repeat. Every song is filled with such emotion and intensity. The lyrics and melodies are spiritually spellbinding and appreciated. I've been with Dorothy since the beginning and I thank Dorothy Martin and the band for being a part of the music in my soul. 💋
I thought that it was “What’s Coming To Me” that was the first single. And, Rest In Peace was the second single? I hope Whats Coming To Me is in on the album somehow afterall?! It makes no sense why it would be excluded
Great interview, thank you Matt Pinfield, and thank you Dorothy, for sharing your story. No one should have to walk through Hell as many times as you have. Thank God you're ok, D. You had to deal with more than I did, but I can understand and empathize. I stopped believing in myself too, but with God's Grace, we made it to the other side. You're such a sweet and beautiful person. You've saved more lives than you know. You saved mine. Thank you, Dorothy, for being there. You love so many, and you are loved by so many. I'm hoping to see you again soon. Until then, please be well, sweet Dorothy.
What a fantastic, powerful voice you have. You grew up listening to Pink Floyd and Johnny Cash! Pluss many more of the best music ever. I think you'd really do Johnny Cash a huge favor, and rework Ring of Fire like never before. Rock on! I love your music.
My daughter, Dorothy, is going to college for music production but is also taking some performance classes and she loves your music which we found when looking for a performance name.
Congratulations next rock legend
Dorothy. First and foremost so proud of you for finding sobriety, secondly for being real, not many are so open. I ran across a video of you for the first time about a year ago.. I'm addicted to your energy. I saw you for the first time about a week ago at Pine Knob in Michigan. I really came for you. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed all. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎶🎶 If your anywhere near Michigan I'll be there. 😘 You have the most beautiful lips. Black Sheep I think you wrote it for me.. watching this video I'm seeing a part of you I did not expect, I would have never imagined you were struggling with addiction. You are a strong, beautiful, smart, women. Stay strong women you got this!! Your music just speaks to me. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎶🎶 Thank you
Dorothy, the world is blessed to you have in it. Your music is inspiration to many people. You and Taylor Momsen both seemed to find a higher meaning, and both emerged from the dark with a newfound glory. Your previous album was great, but this this album is even more amazing. A Beautiful life and from the Pretty Reckless Only Love Can Save Me Now has been my go-to songs when I need a pickup or even something to fall asleep to.
Soooooo awesome, early Pink Floyd experience! Love Pink Floyd as well!! Sorry that I missed you perform here in Dallas, hope to catch next visit through here! So thrilled to hear about your spiritual journey and wishing you continued strength to stay strong. We love seeing you in a place of happiness!! Your voice and creativity is such a blessing to so man fans, so please stay healthy and continue to PREACH!
This is the album that drew me to the band. A live video with Slash on guitar. I immediately bought all 3 albums, and still playing them in my truck. I absolutely love her voice. And each album is so different from the previous one. 28 days in the valley is my favorite. And pretty when your high, god I absolutely love that song. So looking forward to the next album. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic. Great interview. Thank you for letting your fans in to “the artist” and you. Your music is simply the best. Keep it coming. Ps, I loved your bus piece. Another great “let the fans in” experience!!!
As a fan of your music, I can honestly say your music has spoken to me. It is like a fuel that helps keep me going through the good and the bad. The Gifts from the Goly Ghost album is SO GOOD. Honestly, it was hard hearing the deeper truths here in the song writing process. I don't know you personally, but I will say I am sorry for the things you mentioned having had to endure. Just know you are respected and loved. Thank you for your music, the great live shows I have seen, and I look forward to more from you. You're an amazing woman and never think otherwise.
I saw Dorothy in Cleveland last month. They were awesome and I really enjoy the new album . So many great songs and this interview shows all the personal battles we’ve all have had during Covid…. Thanks Matt and Dorothy for sharing 😘
put your love into angels they are all around us over the summer last year i got kidney cancer and i am disabled with cerebral palsy i am going to live still have both my kidneys it was stage1 so god
This album, my lord its perfect everything about it, all the lyrics, the guitars, the vocals just everything is so darn good. And the song Keith worked one is just *chefs kiss*
Just found it on random and kind of really liked the songs. Got a really powerful voice, sometimes songs seem to even have that a southern kind of style. Hope they keep that energy and create new beautiful music.
You remind me so much of my wife barring the accent. Makes me a very lucky man to be with someone so beautiful. \m/ Last album was great but loving the more rock vibes of this new album. The sounded and my wife got into your music with in the first place. Still gives your voice space to shine through too.
Is it weird that I am coming here because of MLB The Show 22? Man thank you for that game; it’s fun as hell no doubt, but I actually discovered Dorothy thanks to “Top of the World” as one of the menu songs… really cool album!
You know, its crazy. I've been a huge fan of Dorothy since "After Midnight" was released and I've always thought "man, if she got saved, she could blow ANY mainstream Christian artist out of the water with her voice." And hearing within the past few months, she got saved and is living for Jesus just warms my heart!!❤️ I have MAJOR, MAJOR respect for you, Dorothy! You're music has helped me through some VERY difficult times and please don't stop🙏

The only non-religious method of sobriety/rehabilitation I've heard of is harm reduction but it's not too well known. Anything through a religious organization when it comes to rehabilitation is religious sobriety in my eyes.
