Finally there's a free academic account of this poem (in the journal ANQ). The limousine can be read in more ways than one, it seems...

Priceless! Conforms to the mind set of every gold-digger which is timeless. Just like Dorothy Parker. Simple but it says it!

She would make an awesome lawyer because she's smart, has a strong sense of justice, and is willing to defend people being punished for B.S. charges(Sacco and Vanzetti).

Interesting. Before watching this I imagined her having more of an Affect/lawn guyland cawfee accent. Good to know.

Tallulah Bankhead helped to promote the literary brilliance of Dorothy Parker in her recitations of Parker's work's on "The Big Show" radio show.

Actually Parker's brilliance was established twenty years before "The Big Show," but Bankhead did a great job on Parker's work.

What an incredibly beautiul voice - and it "is" her writing. A perfect match. No one else could do this justice! I think of Jennifer Jason Leigh and the way she butchered Parker in Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle. In those days, however, people knew how to read their own work.

I think she was imbued with whatever spirit took Dylan Thomas. And not just the booze. They were two of a kind really.

It is not the value the giver ( you) place on the rose. It is the value ( Dorothy) the receiver places on the rose. I like your poem :).

Great stylist, but nothing of substance in her light verse, and (unlike Ogden Nash) nothing innovative or genius.

Ogden Nash was matchless, certainly. But, even so, Parker had her charm.
