I like the idea of following a set of new phals.

Some Phals branch and some don't and those are the ones that get the spike cut, but half of what I have branches from low to high on the spike. I have been feeding seaweed twice now and I can see visible changes on almost all the orchids especially the Phals they just go berserk

Very interesting video again. It’s true that some hybrid seedlings can be weak from the start. I’ve bought another orchid to replace lost ones & they’ve done well. I also believe that some hybrid crosses don’t work & those orchids are feeble plants.

It would be interesting to follow the progress of Phals that have not subjected to great stress.Thank you for another informative chat.❤

.....I enjoyed this chat, and your take on Phal spikes.....would love to see you do some in house experiments on Phals......with 4 clones it would be more accurate vs 4 different plants.......but still much to learn..... ..by the way.....Im in Alabama, just south of Birmingham ....about 800 miles from south Florida, we get snow here ocassionally and temps below freezing are the norm in winter......I only grow orchids outside from May to September (5 months).......and inside for 7 months......If I lived next door to you........I would still grow the same as I do now......its more of a case of.....everyone grows different.....than I grow this way due to where I live........still keeping good thoughts for your health.......please do more chats like this.......

The Phal with the cut and branching spike, you could cut the spike closer to the node and use a stake and some wire to make the branch be more upright so it is more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm growing inside,by a 6' south facing window with lights. Temps 70-90 in summer, 45-60% humidity.

As an experiment I put a small amount of Keiki paste on the nodes on the spike. A few are growing...time will tell

Very informative video What length do you grow the spike before turning it in the other direction?

If you take kind advices about your videos, I really do miss care informations on the plants when you repot them… and some tips and tricks or maybe interesting infos on your or other orchids when you water them (like you did in today’s video). I am hungry for knowledge 🤭🤗

My phals are doing everything at the moment, but they need repotting as there is algae in the pot. Could I do this now?. My mimi phals from that place are a range of colours, double spiked, and multiple blooms. Worked out at £8 each. Now they’re in my care, anything could happen. 🤷‍♀. Hope the results are o.k.
