@@m4rionettealastor702 "So, we managed to create a quantum tunneling system for shells, this way two blasts can be fired in quick succession from both barrels, if needed." "Right, and you needed to turn a semi-auto that could fire _eight_ shots in quick succession into a pump-action to do that because..?"
@@grod5998 yep, also it has the older look and design to it. It makes it more iconic holding a weapon like that because the design of it was so long ago...
There's a certain robustness to things with exposed moving parts. The pistons on a locomotive, the air scoop on a muscle car, the cylinder of a revolver; all of these say "This stops working if we break so we don't plan to". On the other hand, modernity has lead a lot of people to equate "protection" with "fragility" when it comes to covers and shrouds. They aren't wrong in plenty of cases, although just as many are to protect people from the part rather than the reverse. Still, in our world of clean plastic cases and flush metal plating something that sticks out, sticks out all the more.
@@EroticOnion23 Theres people that my dad know and they've had a Winchester rifle past down by multiple family members that dates back to like the later 1800s it's insane how sturdy those old rifles are and from what I've heard it still works
I would definitely hope you could get a coach gun for an affordable price these days considering the absence of stage coach related defensive shooting situation in the modern time
Recently played Doom 2016, and the Super Shotgun became an instant favorite of mine. (Also, I love how it's just a normal Double-Barreled Shotgun, instead of a futuristic design like the other guns. It just gives off this vibe of 'who needs cool technology when you've got the ol' reliable.')
"An inelegant weapon perhaps. For a more... uncivilized time." Considering the original Obi Wan quote is one of my favorite movie quotes, I'm liking this video just for that. Also, you're one of the best video creators out there. These documentaries are astounding.
Weird, i like scp and i like tf2... both in these comment so that shoes that youtube bots are shoving people whit similar intrests to smae vids... So y'all know of barotruma then i suppose. Becose barotruma was made by undertow games, who made scp cb and drew insparation from ss13 for the clowns and sseth made videos on cdda(i knew that game and dwarf fort before i watched theose vids on sseth) and ss13...
@@skeletrone5594 which is now in killingfloor 2 known as the "doomstick" which is a quad barreled version of the boomstick from evil dead which is also in game and goes by the same name using the art style and design concepts from Doom 2016. That particular shotgun has gotten around and strangely come full circle.
then the super shotgun wouldve been called the boomstick. Plus evil dead 2 is referenced in wolfenstein the old blood when blazko uses a hacksaw on a double barreled shotgun he finds
ShadowRocks25 870 comes under 'pump action shotguns' and the M16 really isn't that iconic- perhaps it could come under 'AR15 rifles' or just 'assault rifle'.
Rozmic You aren't alone on the gunfag thing. But to say the certain models of M16 aren't iconic weapons is somewhat unfounded. Modern media has made it's profile known worldwide. Tacticunt or otherwise, underslung attachment present or not withstanding; you cannot mistake it for anything else. If that isn't iconic, I don't know what is.
The break open double barrel was honestly one of the iconic arms of the West. Lethal at the same range as a pistol, they were everywhere. It became an ideal defence weapon since its mere appearance often stopped trouble. It's seriously badass, capable of bringing food or stopping the threat.
@@jacobhall9845 he was BUSY....and the puny humans did it behind his back... Now he is angry.... So he modified his shotgun with a meathook.... Time to go boooooommm
My father owned what I considered a curious firearm -- a Savage 24V-A .222/20ga. It was an over-under, but the top barrel took a very accurate .222 Remington rifle cartridge, while the lower barrel offered a 20-ga. shotgun. He used it mainly as a varmint vanquisher at all ranges needed in our fairly expansive backyard.
There was an american made 8 barreled shotgun, at one point. Colt made it, and they called it the Defender (because of course they did). It also had an option of mounting something like a tear gas canister, just in case 8 barrels was a little too lethal. Here's a Wikipedia article on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Defender_Mark_I
I've always felt that pump, lever, or semi-auto shotguns were more efficient, but there is just something so awesome about a breakdown shotgun, especially with two barrels. Even then, over-under is probably more accurate, but side-by-side barrels just cut such a striking and sexy figure.
"I know what you're thinking: 'but Civvie, why didn't they call it something simpler like the sawn-off or the double-barrel?' Because it's more than that. _Because it's _*_Super."_* ~CV-11
This is a well made video and superbly narrated, but the fact that it took over 3min to show any DOOM clips in a nearly 8min video about double-barreled shotguns is a tragedy.
I've played through doom 2016 like two or three times, and all of these times at the end of the campaign i'd notice i got something like 6 kills each with the pistol and plasma rifle, 50 with each of the other guns, maybe 100 with the gauss cannon and gatling gun and fucking 1200 with the shotgun and super shotgun combined. You just can't play doom without using a shotgun.
You can't deny it's a classic. Boomstick, force-a-nature, Super Shotgun, loaded with slugs in some games, you got a sniper in your hands. I've even seen those crazy or stupid enough to hold two in both hands. Always love seeing them
I wonder how many gamers have actually used a double barreled shotgun before. shooting both barrels at the same time is not anything a sane person would do. the sheer recoil from just one barrel is already uncomfortable... I have seen people knocked on their assess by double barrel blasting... double barrel blasting is only for when you have something like an angry bear after you kind of a situation. 1 barrel at a time is more than enough to kill the crap out of most living things.
Personally I kind of wonder how many gamers actually know flamethrowers in real life aren't as glamorous and cool when they're using them in a fight or even spraying someone with them. I frankly find it disturbing when I come across situations in games where the character you play says, "This thing is awesome! I love the flamethrower." Mean while in real life I think a lot of veterans would say, "It's arguably the most dangerous devise I have ever used. I have nothing but awful memories from using this in war. I became vegetarian after smelling so much burning human flesh each time I used it. It haunted me so much I can't eat any meat or cook without having traumatic flash backs of horrible screaming and sizzling noises." Sure it's fun to shoot a flame thrower in a game or in real life if you go through the legal procedures to allow yourself but usually any kind of incendiary devises tend to cause a lot of psychological damages to the receiving side and the one using it. I really do feel like the gaming industry needs to quit implying the weapon is like a super cool car. It's just down right wrong and misleading. I am still ok with it being used in games though haha. Have a nice day.
Well, you can joke about this, but getting red hot brass on your bare skin is a mistake you only make once, and if it's in your face, it might be the last
When you talk about guns and your quotes... omg I get chills and goose bumps. My favorite quote is from the rocket launcher video: ''Gods gave us fire, but blowing stuff up, that was our idea...'' uffffff... tremendous...
I'm watching these videos to help me make a First Person Shooter. It is telling me exactly what information I need and also helping me name them, such as the over and under. (O/U). This guy deserves so much more.
I own a short barreled stagecoach stoger double barrel 12 gauge shotgun, I got it a few months ago for my birthday and lemme tell you I love it! I have fired both barrels at the same time and it’s all in your stance. You have to really cradle the gun and flex your back, making yourself rigid. My first time it really did bend me, but it’s so worth it. If you want to really kick an ass, a double barrel is all you need.
I am reminded of the M30 Luftwaffe drilling shotgun; a survival rifle fit for hunting deer, bears, small game, big game, humans, light armored vehicles, tanks, Godzilla...
Guns with manual actions are so much more fun irl to me - when I shoot a rifle half the fun is shooting, and the other half is the action. It's just so satisfying to manually eject the cartridge with the bolt, i don't know why.
I don't want to give the initial impression that my channel is platform specific. The Xbox brand is a liability. Don't worry, it's a superficial change - and you can still call me XboxAhoy if you like. Or Stu, I'm not fussy.
my favourite depictions of double barreled shotguns in games are where you choose which barrel to fire, fire the left barrel with left click fire the right barrel with right click fire both barrels by pressing left and right click at the same time
@@OperatorVanta you say that now, but when you can't lift the gun off the ground because it weighs 2x as much as you, and you have an angry bear storming at you, I think you will have second thoughts before you get evicerated, shredded, murdered and killed.
Do a face reveal. I just can't stop to think that you're Captain Price. I think you sound really similar to him and just keep thinking it's him behind the camera.
He hid his face in the easter egg video by embedding it in the sound. You can find it in his subreddit www.reddit.com/r/XboxAhoy/comments/21xh82/the_real_easter_egg_in_the_easter_egg_video/
Ahoy New sub here. I really enjoyed this. I appreciate you changing you name to show that you have an affinity for a certain console. You like games, I like games: that's what matters.
+Slixshot I wish there were more people with your mindset. Forget the platform we enjoy it on; that's just personal preference. The games are more important.
Edgeless Whisper I agree. If you are watching something for entertainment, then you should leave biases aside. I usually only converse such things with friends. If I do talk online, then it's usually to some fanboy and I turn into a fact nazi.
I've already watched this video like 20 times. I literally watched it yesterday, as I am today. I absolutely love double barrel shotguns, and this video
I own a Stoeger Double Defense coach gun and I couldn't be happier for a home defense weapon. My favorite part about the shotgun is how little you need to use the sights, just wave it at the problem.
CanisterBomb_Entertainment Don't own it, for one. PS2 is difficult to emulate and a pain to record on native hardware. Timesplitters: Future Perfect is on Xbox, but isn't compatible with the 360. Essentially a large number of factors conspire to make the series difficult to include.
When the video game footage pops up, theres newer games i'd be expecting on here like valorant and fortnite, but then i remember this is EIGHT YEARS OLD
These were so ahead of their time, it's so awesome to see this came out in 2015 and it doesn't seem out of place from age or quality or anything like that
Excellent content, much approved. But I feel as though you missed one other classic type of double barrel: the sawed-off shotgun. It's name alone invokes an image of a double barrel, even though technically speaking it doesn't have to be double barrel to be sawed-off. The Sawed-off shotgun has a niche as a easy to carry, and easy to conceal weapon with a punch. It could be used for personal defense, but with it's reputation as a hidden murder weapon like in Hitman 2 it should have had a spot on the video. This is just my opinion, thanks if you read this far.
