Pac-man camps with hydrant, so Sonix can't be the camper on Tea. Plus Sonix can't edge guard pac-man like he edge guards most of the characters. Pac-man is a great character to use against sonic. Plus Tea has soo much sonic experience. Great job Tea.
Sonic can actually run straight through the hydrant, so it's not as good as it is against other chars. However tea has a ton of mu exp from playing ken
The amount of conditioning being used by both players is insane! Nice to see Sonix learning the matchup on the spot. He knew immediately to pretend the hydrant doesn't exist after game 1.
Yeah he can switch on a dime between trap zoning and aggressive play. Sonix heavily passive hit and run style is a poor matchup against Tea PAC in general

@@iv624 That is not what a bracket demon is. Riddles gets beaten by real top players such as light and Tea being one of Japan's top 8, OBVIOUSLY is gonna defeat a regular nobody like Sonix. Sonix only shines in his own little pond, local tournaments and some mid tier tournaments. He can exploit the sonic factor against these more unexperiences players, but against the top? Nope.
Sonix put up a decent fight. He started bating out percent on hydrant to hit it into tumble which was an interesting adaptation. Honestly tho, Tea seemed ready for everything.
If Sonix played this like he was using fox or sheik, I don’t think the matchup would’ve looked nearly as bad. Sonic has all the speed and burst options to effectively pressure pac man from mid-close range. Instead, he gave Tea all the space he needed to set up all his traps perfectly by playing way too defensively
no I agree. That's the thing, I've seen Sonix play rushdown and he's so good at it, especially now. But when you camp against a camper like Pac you're gonna lose

Japan is saving ultimates meta from ‘lameness’… hear me out. Teas Pac-Man and protos minmin have been around a while. It’s only now, with the rise of The Steves and Sonix that we really appreciate their presence as solid counters to those characters

Min Min & Sonic are SOO polarising by design & playstyle philosophy that they're immediately Top-Tier, when used in conjunction with their movesets. Pac-Man & Steve possess some of the most brutal whif-punishing in the current meta & they're still VERY niche, despite being VERY threatening, meaning most players aren't in possession of the correct & optimal counterplay to some of their most aggressive & key defining traits. If we're considering mu charts too, most of these mu's between these 4 characters are literally even, so nothing is exactly "self regulating" here.
@@SussyBaka_irl min min isn't top tier anymore. She's easy high tier and has some hard matchups like Roy,bayo,and shiek. Pacman has a couple of losing matchups like cloud,Byleth,aegis, but they are all doable
PAC-man and Sonic don’t play like each other at all. PAC is a set-up character with various traps. Sonic is fast hit and run style and more heavily leans into camping because PAC has set-ups that require more aggressive play including off Bell, hydrant, etc

@@lokks2130 This is true, and that's why I respect Sonix as a player. Even in this matchup, Tea was playing GODLIKE, and Sonix held his own pretty damn well. He didn't back down, even got close to taking a match point. It was a fun match. No need to fret if we're biased toward Pac-Man. Tea is just the overall better player. He does things no one else does, save for....maybe Light, or Marss. But I mean, they don't main Pac-Man. There have been Pac-Man players that just camp, like villains. I understand the hate then. But Tea? He's a supervillain. Go ahead. Ask me what's the difference.
What's the name of the commentator who got shocked by a sonic player starting off a game with homing attack and later said sonic is not known for his kill power?
The Homing Attack was actually super optimal & completely out of left field, especially given how much risk & reward Sonic acquires from using Homing Attack & yeah, Sonic isn't actually known for his kill power, because Sonic typically average's kill's, beyond 120% & usually resorts to combo's for kill confirm's. "Kill Power" usually refers to the kill potential of single or multi-hit attacks, not combo's like Spin-Charge > F-Air, which is an honest mistake too.
Nah you gotta admit, lacking mu experience & messing up hard Game 1, to adaptating hard Game 2 & almost winning, with Game 3 that should've ended in a Sonix dub, is pretty impressive. No 0-2'er like behaviour in this set dawg & that's coming from a guy who loved watching both these players.
It's because of Sonic, the character. I know Pacman plays campy as well, but TEA just wanted to play extra campy if you noticed. Sonix is super notorious for timing out opponents and that's just a shitty strategy. TEA just taught sonix a lesson here. That sonic can be outcamped by some characters.
Honestly sonix is a monster I don't think the gap is big or even there I just think he's inexperienced against pac man while tea knows sonic in and out.
Sonix is probably the better player. The matchup isn't fantastic, and frankly, who has MU knowledge on Pac-Man? The entire Japanese scene gets to see Ken regularly and know the Sonic matchup as a result. There just aren't American Pac-Men for Sonix to learn. That just happens to be a big part of the upside of the Japanese scene. (And why some godlike players just pick up weird characters) A ton of the big Japanese players play weird, uncommon characters and nobody has the matchup figured out.
@@AAdams-ke4is I dunno… to say it’s all MU inexperience is kinda a cop out. This game is going on 4 years into the meta. If there’s a matchup you don’t know yet if you’re a top level player, there’s plenty of resources you can use to help you out.
ABSOLUTELY satisfactory. Sonix can't do shit to real players. He only abuse the stupid sonic camping thing with people who don't know how to play against Sonic. I liked how Tea was camping Sonix and nothing that Sonix did was useful for him to win. He got a taste of his own medicine. If he does not learn by now, he will learn soon enough.
A few months later Sonix comes close to 3-0ing MK Leo lol (of course MK gets the reverse, because that's what he does, but still...) I get that people hate his play style, but the fact that people ignore this man's skill is baffling to me.
I don’t hate Sonix, but I don’t like the way he plays Sonic. It’s not entertaining. Sonix is an incredible player no doubt, but man I’m glad Tea won. I hate Sonic as a character so much
Methinks Sonix is fiending too hard for weird tech most of the time when he could just be doing basic Fairs and Nairs and being a lot safer and punishing jumps a lot more consistently.
Ive seen like 50 times where rather than some fancy side/down special shenanigans it would have been faster and gotten a punish if he had just Fair'ed.
spoiler comment honestly i was rooting a bit for sonix on this one. i know sonix has a bad rep for being campy, but i feel like this isn't a good matchup for sonic at all, as he has nothing to gain from camping when pac-man carefully decides what fruit to use behind a fire hydrant. also tea has matchup experience with sonic from ken, while idk how much pac-man sonix has dealt with. tea was amazing though, he had galaxy brain baits and knew how to transition from defensive to aggressive against someone whos known for that. game 3 was so intense at the end. hats off to tea
@@mrharvy100 i understand, i don't like playing against sonic either. at the same time, i don't like playing against pac-man. i feel both are annoying in their own way, but i respect anyone whos a good player
He gains nothing from camping pac man in this MU like u said he really should’ve at least played bait & punish to force options out of Tea rather than running to the opposite side of the stage and holding shield while Tea sets up the perfect trap
