That "pinch clamp tool" looks exactly like, well it actually is regular pincers. I have had pincers since I was a kid but just because I bought some double ear clamps, I can't find them so I better buy some new then. I was mostly thinking if there was some special tool but regular pincers seem right as I thought. Or maybe there is a special tool like pincers but with not so sharp edges. I could buy cheap pincers and grind the edges a little smooth but it seems you did well despite the sharp edges.
