If only more remakes were like this. Classic Super Robots fighting alongside modern Super Robots needs to happen more often, especially if the classics are given the respect they deserve.
@@NXTangl One year late but... Spiral Rays aren't as defined as Getter Rays, they're just some cheap offshoot of Getter Rays seeing as Getter itself is sentient. Getter is confirmed as Evolutionary energy, there's **nothing** Getters can't do, especially with its chosen.
@@katomamundara8106 no, I mean like the being presently known as the Getter Rays itself transcended the physical _and_ the limitation of Spiral Nemesis and became a cosmic hunger for evolution.
@@NXTangl No, as I've said, they've gone over this: The GL needed the help of the Shin Getter just to transform once to the form BEFORE Gurren Lagann. In short: Getter is STILL objectively superior even in SRWs. Anyone who's got half a braincell knows that Getter is in no way linked to Spiral Shit, and is superior to Spiral Shit in every form. Anyone who TRIES to argue them being linked beyond some vague similarities is a blind fanboy.
This series felt more like a proper sequel to the OG Kotenshin Jeeg especially since we had Hiroshi the OG himself fight alongside his successor Kenji and still be a badass.
This is my favorite anime as a kid and I'm glad I can still give it that spot. Yes, I know other anime's exist but this show had a certain charm to it that made it my favorite anime of all time.
No Air In Space For Hiroshi... And He Says He Doesn't Need It... No Land In Space For Kenji... And The Way He's Going He's Like He Doesn't Need It... If Only We Could See Kotetsu Jeeg Build Up 2 Times Over At The Same Time... And Hear The Past & Present Yell *_BUILD UP!_* At The Same Time Before Letting Out A Powerful Roar Together Of *_KOTETSU JEEG!_*
You definitely don't want to get double teamed by two Go Nagai mechs. The sheer gravitional force of manliness is enough to crush anyone foolish enough to stand in the way.
This is what I call "OTOKO NO ROMAN!!" Robot anime always gets me pumped up with all the out of this world naming sense for attacks BUT WE STILL LOVE IT.
Man i love how both jeegs deployed at 150 will. Jama empire never stood a chance. Not to mention old jeeg also start witg a free zeal and kotetsu jeeg has that broken 2.5x valor thingy. Not to mention having that spirit command that ignores size.
This is cool..only because it's nice to see my favourite robot still alive and kicking. but the original hand painted version and with real analogue sounds at the back is still the most awesome one.
Ehhh, thing about Koutetsushin is that unlike 99.9% of "sequel series" like this, it didn't toss the old series to the wind or just retell it with a new character. It actually progresses the series, with everything from super important major CONFIRMED character death (Asamo, in this very video for example) to expanded character back stories. It manages to "have it's own time" and build it's own characters and storyline AND manages to draw the original series to a vastly superior close.
PerfectChaosZeta Part of that is the fact that, well, this isn't really a sequel to the original Jeeg. It ended very differently, some characters (Takeru!) were completely different, no Mecha-Don, Hiroshi didn't have his second form...
@@stephenbyrne2170 There's an iconic scene in Mobile Suit Gundam where Bright Noa slaps Amuro Ray twice for not piloting the Gundam, causing Amuro to whine and sprout out the memetic line: "You hit me twice... Even my father never hit me!" The reference was made because the original VA for Jeeg was Tōru Furuya, the same guy who voiced Amuro.
Anime rule #1: Real men don't need air Rule #2: Main or side theme goes off...epic ass-kicking has commenced Rule #3: Never interrupt the Gattai or you will have to fight the support while main hero is trying to complete said formation
Rule 5: When you see 2 savages after they're done throwin L's at the bad guys, they have to pose in front of the earth followed by stylized Japanese text reading "To be continued"
This is a sequel series to a 70s show. Because the original Jeeg was a robot he hasn't aged while his partner has become a grandmother- real time slide!
Back when I was a little kid in the early 80s and saw Jeeg on TV I crapped my pants. It was so fucking awesome. Then we got this new Jeeg when I was old and guess what: I crapped my pants again :D
The first i watch this anime 1984, SONY video betamax, Miwa Uzukie (Michie) with her short hair and pilot glasses, she was an anime beauty back then, now, long grey hair, she is even a grandmother, my crush on her stay still like a primary school boy, first crush never go away i guess.

Explosive music Explosive character Explosive everything This is a Super Robot series. Not like thos other crybaby highscool dramam mechas with robots that break easily. Fighting sipirit with powerfull screams. HELL YEAH!!!!!!
Firstly the origiona Jeeg series wich this was a sequal to was made by Go Nagai (you know the guy who made Mazinger) and most theses villains were in the origional. Yes he does lie to reuse ideas but he allways put a knew spin on them. Secondly the "Even Himika-sama never kicked me" line is a tribute to Jeeg's origional voice actor who also played Amurao Ray
