It's finally done. About 4 months of work, tons of testing and modifying, but the Nerf Rival Super Shotblaster is complete. In a homage to DOOM, this is a double pump-action blaster with two 10-round internal magazines giving you enough shots to clear any room. Using a Roughcut 2x4 for the grip and the priming grip from a Demolisher, this blaster was built from the ground up to be compact and useful while being exceptionally comfortable.

Dont really see the Doom shotty similarity, closest i could Imagine is the serious sam2 double shotgun and thats a "barely" One at that Its a beaut though, One of your better works walc imo, shame nerf, xshot, dartz etc wont pick Up on burst/shot)spread type blasters fairly untapped market. And the attempts made tend to be anemic "trilogy" Hail the Sledge baby!

Clear coat tips. Use the same brand and formula clear coat as the paint and don't clear until the paint is fully cured. I.E you have a hard time smelling paint with a close up sniff test...lol ..Great video as usual and awesome build !!

Army painter spray cans work very nicely for the spray can approach. The colored primers are very nice. For clear coating, I'd go for something meant for gundam model kits, they've never let me down anyway. The gun does look like you were going for a apocalyptic look anyway, so good job :D

I've had Rustoluem paint NOT dry for a year. In summer it dries almost instantly... bought it cuz it said it "bonds to plastic". Read the fine print. Takes 7-9 days when used on plastic. Clear Coats: I've had models ruined when i put matching Mineral Turps based Spray can top coats over them. Tried a "Wood" Varnish spray can, no dramas. Even on alcohol based inks. Sealed it perfectly.

Love this. Much better than the old Doom II super shotgun. That was a break action sawed off double barrel. The double pump magazines, excellent!

If you ever mess up another paint job, use Testors ELO. It’ll strip pretty much any acrylic paint. And it’s pretty mild stuff, very gentle on plastics.

Looks awesome, though. I didnt double mine, but I did pull it apart and paint it. Trick with rattlecans is you have to keep that 8 to 10 inch spray distance, spray thin layers, and use broad sweeping motions for each stroke. And dont start or finish a spray stroke directly over the project. Yeah, I should have bought an airbrush 30 years ago...

It's not you brother. It's the paint. No matter which paint brand you use, if you Krylon, Rustoleum, PlasticCoat whoever/whatever, you're gonna experience paint lifting.! Especially if you're a "wet-painter"(that's a compliment! Not everyone can spray paint out of rattle can, and have come out flat and glossy, without runs and sags.!) and you my friend or a wet painter. I know you've heard and maybe even seen people try to show through tutorials of how to spray your clear coats in lite,dry,even near dustydry coats before applying a couple wetcoats, but it's the only way I get rattle can paints to look good. I'll be sending you some proof of my work as well. Thank you for the inspiration you've been to those of us in modding community.

And to think, I had my Meteor transformed into "The Idiot's Lantern" the same day I got it. Of course, I did up the greeblies (a bearded old-man face made from the face-plate of an X-Shot Bug Attack bug and a couple "purity seals" made by pressing a Unicorn Wizard Ring into some Sculpey, curing/painting and gluing on scroll-bits made from the handle of a cheap tote-bag) ahead of time and spent HOURS painting the shell... I still use rattle-cans for the base-coat (in this case, a Krylon Short Cuts in "Leaf Green"), but I break up all that solid color with hand-painted details using Citadel paints- in this case, I went with my favorite metallics, Balthazar Gold and Iron Hands Steel. And I'm using the HECK out of that decal-sheet. The Idiot's Lantern is gonna be The Toymaker's signature sidearm, so I'mma make sure this baby looks GOOD.

Quake 2 has a pump action double barreled shotgun so that would be a much more accurate comparison imo

Make it so that pump wasn't huge and more like an upside down stock retaliator pump. And downgrade the spring so it was mainly close range only and a lot easier to prime, and that could easily be fit onto a back holster or behind the hip holster, and it'd be freaking bad ass too
