This was my FAVORITE!!!...First coaster ride and the last one. I planned it that way. Don't ride them anymore. But OH what memories. I can remember this ride in my sleep. Don't even need a video. But what fun. I miss Geauga Lake. I wish it had never closed.
Nice video. Brings back a lot of memories. :38 has a nice view of the ski stadium, Aquarium and other buildings I used to work at across the Lake at Sea World.
Double Loop was the first roller coaster in the world with two consecutive back-to-back loops. It was my first metal (and looping) coaster, and I always loved it. Now, it is gone forever. Thanks Cedar Fair. :(
I was 14 in 1977 and this is when the Double Loop opened. Rode on it several times back then. The movie "Rollercoaster" was out that summer & because it was one of my fave movies, it made me wanna ride coasters which I never really did before.
I agree. It was very much moreso a park for FAMILIES. We used to go EVERY summer. And like you, the Double Loop was the first coaster I ever rode...and when I decided to stop riding them, I made it my last coaster ride ever.
This was my first looping coaster! I remember right after I rode this I thought I could ride the Batman(dominator) right after and then once I was going up the hill on the batman I got so scared and started to cry but then I loved that too! Haha I was only 6 years old
This was my coaster, I was so scared. but now I love coasters. its so sad its closed. I wished I had the money to buy it and fix it up. I had a lot of family memories here.
It's sad to think that nobody will ever ride this one again. It was a fun little coaster and I can't think of another park I've been to that featured a coaster with two loops in succession (not that I'm an authority on rollercoasters).
I don't think this place was closed due to greed. I think it was because they cared too much about the park by expanding it too much. A fine example of why bigger doesn't always mean better.
Fun fact: this video was uploaded during the 2007 season so at the time of this upload nobody knew what was coming in the next few months besides cedar fair
This was the first coaster I ever went on. I'm going to miss that place. Now it's just a water-park. I still love Cedar Point but Geagua Lake was closer and the park being smaller was cool cuz it was quicker to get around.
Robbie Hall hit the hammer on the nail. The people have no idea what it meant to us. RIP. I mean greed gets you no where. Why ruin something for many of other people ?
There was another one at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA. Laser and what made it awesome was it just had lap bars for a restraint. Unfortunately Cedar Fair removed it at the end of last season.
My first coaster.. This park is so much better than cedar point to me. Geauga Lake felt like a nice small neighborhood, while cedar point feels like freaking NYC! That may not make sense fully, but the point is that I want this back so much and it never will be here again....
My first inverted coaster. Sat down got so terrified I got out of the train to exit the ride. Then my mom said it would be fine and that not a single person has died on that ride or any other ride in the park. So it got in and the first time going upside down was so amazing. I wish I could have saved this ride but those pricks that bought it scrapped it along with villan
This was my first roller coaster and I loved it now it is gone :'( I now have to travel farther to ride a roller coaster at Cedar Point because Geauga Lake was closer to where I live at :(
the only reason i really like this coaster was cuz it was my first looping coaster, really boring now compared to many of the coasters i've already been on
i had so many memories there. its a shame greed shut down the park. greed is like cancer. it will keep eatin away until there is nothing left but death. death of a great amusment park, first they forced people to stop bringing in there own food and eat there (greed) then parking prices went up (greed) then admittion prices went up (greed) until not enough people could afford to go there. (shame on the owners of the park) you will answer for your greed on judgment day.
