Sleep Token in a league of their own man.

The first time I heard Alkaline, I had the same desire for more. The song does go verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus, chorus but the chorus is so long that it does take up a lot of real estate. Still, even after hundreds of spins, it hasn’t gotten old to me so keep hope alive. With Vore and the newer tracks, each song is represented by one of these characters and I’m pretty sure each has a story, with some being more clear than others. So, Vore is a fetish that involves the fantasy of eating someone whole or being eaten whole. It’s out there, but hey, no kink-shaming here. The character in Vore is part praying mantis, which is a species well-known for engaging in vore as the females consume the males during, well, coitus. The lyrics carry on the same subject matter, but the way I interpret them is less literal and much more metaphorical as “let’s get swallowed whole” could be an analogy for falling in love or giving yourself to another. It’s just one example of how much lore there is in everything this band does. Vessel hasn’t written one single throwaway line throughout their catalog. Every word in every song has a meaning and works to weave together another chapter in their story. It’s pretty great. I highly recommend Hypnosis or The Offering to pair with Chokehold. Oh, and I’m subbing. Let’s get you to 500. Worship.

Each song off the new album has a creature or monster attached to it and sleep token has a whole lore that goes with them. Insane shit. Check out atlantic, hypnosis, the offering, higher, telomeres, and granite. They r genre fluid so u wont always get heavy songs but their whole discography is amazing. They are the best kept secret in music today imo and not nearly as well known as they should be. Seeing them live again in sept and they are possibly even better live. The singer is vessel he also plays all the piano, the rest of the band members r called II, III, and IV

Sleep Token is something different entirely, bro! Chokehold is phenomenal, but not as heavy. I'd recommend giving Hypnosis and The Offering a listen as well. 14:00 I think it's a thing. Sleep Token has a bit of lore behind them, but they're pretty mysterious so most of the "story" only comes out in their music. Long story short: Sleep Token is an entirely masked band. The lead singer is Vessel (who was the masked figure in the Alkaline music video) and they worship an ancient entity known as Sleep. The songs they make are "tokens" or "offerings" in the name of Sleep.

ST is beyond special for me. I can compare it a little bit only with discovering Pink Floyed 20 years ago.

Vore is my favorite Sleep Token song, it's just so heavy but airy, angsty but also emotional. I love how the two types of vocals blend into one another and fit the storytelling of the lyrics and the instrumental is a fricking masterpiece. You will love The Offering and Higher by them. One sub closer to 500 :)

Two songs I recommend from sleep token are Blood Sport (from the room below) and Granite. This band is truly something else

Aqua Regia, Ascensionism and Hypnosis are songs that I knew I liked but the lyrics hooked into me the second times I heard them and listened to the lyrics!
