Sinawali is the double-cane method of fighting of arnis, escrima and kali. The name sinawali came from the Tagalog word “sawali,” a woven split bamboo mats used as walls of nipa huts. The crisscrossing movements of sinawali weapons fighting mimic the pattern of these mats hence the name.
Double Sinawali
1. Start with the right hand up and left hand tucked under the right shoulder.
2. Strike the temple of the opponent with the right hand.
3. As you pull back the right hand to the left shoulder strikes the opponent’s knee with the left hand.
4. As you strike, a backhand to the temple of the opponent with the right hand. Pull back the left hand to the shoulder.
