Double Slit Experiment Explained by Neil deGrasse Tyson
A video titled “Double Slit Experiment Explained by Neil deGrasse Tyson” would likely provide an engaging and comprehensive explanation of one of the most intriguing experiments in quantum physics - the double slit experiment.
The video might start with a brief introduction to the double slit experiment, explaining its significance in demonstrating the wave-particle duality of light and matter. It could detail how the experiment involves shining light (or firing particles) at a barrier with two slits, and observing the resulting pattern on a screen behind the barrier.
From there, the video could delve into the surprising results of the experiment. When light is shone through the slits, instead of forming two bands of light on the screen as one might expect, it forms an interference pattern of several bands. This suggests that light behaves as a wave, interfering with itself.
The video could then explore the even more surprising results that occur when particles (like electrons) are fired one at a time through the slits. Even though the particles are sent individually, an interference pattern still forms over time, suggesting that each particle interferes with itself, as if passing through both slits simultaneously.
Neil deGrasse Tyson, with his knack for making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging, could break down these concepts in a way that’s easy to understand. He might use analogies, visual aids, and his signature storytelling style to bring the experiment to life.
The video could also touch on the philosophical implications of the double slit experiment. It could discuss how the results challenge our classical understanding of reality, as they suggest that particles can exist in multiple places at once, and that their behavior changes when observed.
In conclusion, “Double Slit Experiment Explained by Neil deGrasse Tyson” promises to be a fascinating deep dive into one of the most mind-bending experiments in physics. It’s an exploration of the strange and counterintuitive world of quantum mechanics, guided by one of the most renowned science communicators of our time. Whether you’re a physics enthusiast or a curious learner, this video is sure to leave you with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the mysteries of our universe.

Yes, you are nailing it. Tyson reiterated that point in the show. It’s about how measuring something has an effect on something. So we don’t know how to measure something on that scale without doing that yet.

The answer is simple. All mater is light, all light is conscious, and all is one consciousness experiencing simultaneously different realities based on perspective.

When they don’t measure the photons the outcome of the experiment displays wave like activities. When they do measure the photons the experiment displays particle like activities.

They know it changes because the end-result is different wether the slit is observed or not. So imagine this: you have a paper and that "double slit" thing in front of it. You throw paint at the slits without looking. You get multiple stripes on the paper. But when you do it while looking you only get two stripes. You do this experiment over and over again; yet you get the same results every time: without watching you get multiple stripes and while watching you get just two stripes. It's basically this: they put up measurement-equipment to figure out why they get multiple stripes, but suddenly the result changes. They have yet to find out why this is the case

You are adding a new element to the evironment and are suprised when you get a different result. Clearly the tool being used to obersve is causing interference we just don't understand how. We are used to having the obersvation aid have negligible change but when you are dealing with quatum mechanics it might be different.

You can’t observe something without interacting with it. Maybe it’s the photons from the light used to observe that change its behavior.

A scientist/inventor will likely someday find the perfect application for this phenomenon. Creating something that applies the principles of this mysterious phenomenon in an invention that benefits mankind in some wonderful way. The phenomenon a mere tip of the proverbial iceberg of what quantum mysteries lie beneath. Uncovering perhaps a whole new branch of science. 🧊

Watch it live or record by camera, it still act like a liveless, stupid bullcharged particle? What if we put animal to watch it. What if we put in 3D slit, + shape instead of i shape. 😅 So, human and machine (camera), can do the same thing, in this experiment. As light was all over the universe, act strangely on earth as we watch it here. We do really have 'strange' ability to light.😮
