Good stuff boss. Double stops add so much to a lick. I loved the way Jerry Reed used them. That reminds me... your version of the bandit is awesome I still go back and listen to it all the time. Thanks for all the good info and awesome picking.

This is yet another great lesson! I like the idea of using open string drones to create double stops as well as the pivoting ideas. I remember first hearing about pivoting in the 80's from the heavy metal days! Great to apply it to flatpicking. Another suggestion if it's possible, that is to include a pdf link to tabs for the particular lesson in the description. I use my phone and it is too small for me to read. For many lessons I usually display the tab on a tablet alongside the phone with my guitar and then I can really integrate the concepts and information being taught. The production and sound in your videos is top notch!! Thanks Chris!

For solo guitar the pivot notes is very effective filling out the sound whilst adding interest.

I love how you take a piece of a song and then show the deeper concept behind where its from or why it works. As someone who can play chords, scales, etc, but not put it together really... it's helpful to see the progression up to the trick a song is using.

APPRECIATE that bud! ...tab is just not enough,.. most people get the tab from me and then run... but you can write a book on just a few bars of music if you analyse it close enough..therefore while many may collect tab..others can learn way more by looking closer on a single solo or whatever

the more vids the better! As you might be able to tell im a tony mega fan and another topic i thought you could have some insight into is a picking pattern/technique he uses: It appears in cross picking sections but also in his approach to chords - he sometimes hits the first down stroke and rests on the next string, but then pushes through using the thumb joint, not the wrist which is more typical. Its almost like the thumb starts straight then flicks to 90 degrees to push through the next string or strings. He can get 3 or 4 clean down stroke notes using variations of this action before having to reset again. Church street blues being the most famous example, but i see it all the time in his rhythm work when adding variation to the usual boom chuck. You see something similar in flamenco/gypsy jazz guitarists who have a similar feel to their playing. I think that this is one of the places where his unusual rhythm is derived from, because it encourages a more attacking sound and "ahead of the beat" driving swing as apposed to the up/down metronomic wrist motion which is something i find a bit boring about many modern bluegrass guitarists. @@chrisbrennanguitar
