I’m recovering from surgery and pleasantly stumbled across your channel and I’m hooked, I can’t wait for new videos to be released. John, you are are a master at tool restoration. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Wow! That engine turning, combined with those candy apple colors... it’s the 60’s and I’m a kid again, riding my purple Schwinn Stngray bicycle. Thanks for the trip back home.
The engine turn effect makes a largely redundant tool into pure art. I know these are now wall hangers but my brain is running away on what other tools could be pimped. Love the video and have a great weekend.
Wow! I like all of those paint colors. Nothing like bright and cheerful colors to fight these gray winter days. Nice job on the jeweling too - and the lathe work.
ScoutCrafter when I saw this lilac color I thought it was a joke, but then I decided that there was so much dirt in the work of a mechanic or plumber, so that color would bring joy. Thank you for the good mood
Once When I wanted to do some engine turning, I used a round gasket punch and punched out some round discs of fine sandpaper. I then glued them to dowel rods. Worked good for what they were and they were cheap.
Love to see them in the sun. That orange/coppertone dose look like my old schwinn stingray with banana seat that I had back in the day. What a "flash back"! I'll go with the orange. Keep them coming. Good job.
I'm a die hard Mopar man as you can see on my profile picture that's my 1951 Plymouth Concord I also have a 1965 Dodge Dart as my daily driver. Anyway those wrenches are amazingly beautiful. Great job!👍👍
Hi Bert! I loved the old Darts! My Sister had a 1964 World's fair edition Dodge Dart! Push button Transmission, Dark Green Metallic with Black interior! The inside of that car was so beautiful! Slant 6 engine was a dream to work on! Dodge/Plymouth had some amazing vehicles! The Letter cars were some of the nicest cars out of Detroit ever! Thanks Bert!
Your work blends art with craftsmanship. Before your jeweling tutorial I would have bet the designs were cnc generated. My compliments on both wrenches. They're better than new in my opinion. I like both color combinations as they are but really like the plum crazy purple being an old Mopar fan. I think your on to something with the two colors though. It's almost like you need a drum roll when you reveal the other side. The anticipation is intense. Nice job!
Loved it John , after watching your 1st video on jeweling . I immediately jumped on ebay and bought two 3/8" sticks for $30, and that was with a discount . 3/8" may be a bit large , but it was an in-between size I hoped will work . My all time favorite color is blue . But after looking at the blue in your 2 Bamm videos LOL. I actually like the green and copper tone as my 2 favorites of the 4 . Sigh......Now I have to go back to ebay and buy the 1/4" and 1/8th" if they have them . You just have to pimp out more of. your tools with Jeweling and such in upcomming videos . It's just so cool !
Hi Dave!!! The 3/8 is a great size!!!!!! It will look great! The Double Take Senior was about 3/8 and looks good! I don't think you need a holder with anything above 5/16 because the rod is thick enough. Dave, it's fun just to take a scrap of metal and make a Jeweled Keychain! You are going to love it! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Andrew! You know the two most FUN tools to use in the shop is the Lathe and the Dake! They are just FUN!!!!!! The worst tool is the radial arm saw! LOL Thanks!!!!!!!!
wow another beautiful wrench. that is a masterpiece well done. God bless you family and friends. that is a nice wrench to put on a picture frame double-sided glass and just let them see it from both sides to enjoy a gorgeous wrench. God bless you have a beautiful weekend..😁👍👍👍👍👍
If I saw that wrench before you restored and painted it, I would say that's a "Ford Wrench." That's what those were called when I was growing up. As I understand it, the name comes from the fact that Ford would include a wrench like that in every new Model T or Model A auto that was produced. Very nice job.
Hi Anthony! The Ford wrenches (Ones with his logo) do command a higher price... Instead of 4 dollars they might get 6 or 8! LOL The Diamond Calk and Billings were much better wrenches! Thanks!
Wow wow just when I think that all your stuff is already over the top can you do something like this I'm very impressed very happy I watched your video I'm happy when I watch all your videos thank you very much for all the inspiration and I know it's a lot of hard work and I do appreciate it very much
I can't really say one over the other because they ALL look fine! Happy Weekend, Crafty Scout and Thank God It's Friday! They can have their 'goodness'.
I picked up one of these monkey wrenches last year at a boot sale, it is in much better condition than this one shown here. It does have a light coating of rust and should clean up very nicely. I am loving these double take restorations very much indeed. Thanks for another great video. Nash, UK viewer.
Hi Nash! These are available by the thousands here but finding one in good shape is the trick! The metal was soft on these and were often bent and mashed and very rusty. I'm glad you found a nice one! They make great project material! Thanks so much!!!
LOL! Isn't it great to see your favorite color used on something!? My least favorite color is the Green that Ryobi uses on their power tools. It's a high visibility color and it just annoys me! LOL Needless to say I won't be buying any of those! =) Thanks!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter. Me too. Lol I'm going to do my brake drums in red so they match. Can't do it though until warmer weather. It's still cold here in Oregon. Take care my friend.
I like your Craytex holder... I'll have to make one. I usually just put a short piece of Craytex directly into the drill press chuck. Craytex is expensive, but it does last a long time. Craytex works a treat polishing threads that have been single pointed on a lathe, giving them a very nice finish.
Looks Great!! I Remember Dodge Challengers and Plymouth Barracudas, around 1969 or so stsrted using that purple. Coulda been a year or two earlier! Anyway GREAT Job!!
Hi Bill! Yes! The old days when cars turned heads and were just beautiful! What happened? Cars today have no soul or style... I feel bad for the kids today... =) Thanks!!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter I agree! I loved it when you could just get a glimpse of a tail light or grill and identify the particular year and model of a car!! Nothing mych like it anymore! They all look the same! Kids today don't know what they're missing!
Omg scout you just keep getting better at these! Love them. Wonder what a vice looks like with jeweling and paint? I think I seen one in your shop needing love.....
Awsome, its just so so cool. You have finised these wrenches in colours you think others like, how about one in your colour- red but you could pimp it up and use a metallic cherry red. Think you could, should you want to, sell these pimped up tools on ebay for $500 each. Your vids just so inspire me, thank you for sharing.
I'm reminded of the jeweling done in Jimmy Stewart's movie "Spirit of St Louis" by Ryan Aircraft in San Diego as they put the finishing touches onto the airplane's nose cowling...
As a demonstration of the skill of restoration..outstanding. As for something I’d have in my toolbox....not so sure. If my grown sons saw this in my possession I’d never hear the end of it.
😆😆in ur last video, there was one comment about hot pink & u complied. Thanx for sharing the information about cratex. Need to check availability in my country. Once again nice restoration. Beautiful.
Hi Christina! I'm sorry I should have showed that. I polish the top of the wrench as it is about 1/8" wide. This way the paints are separated by a nicely polished rim! I will show it, it is really a nice feature! Thanks!!!!!!!!
wow...You'r a cnc machine,sir...and these patterns and colours awesome...BTW ı broke my right hand I cant write so long but I'm watching your videos...cheers..
Hello Kadir! OMG! You know, we never appreciate just how much we take our body parts for granted until we have to be without it! I used to make the Scouts learn to do things with one hand just in case they injured themselves in the wild. They were always amazed at how hard simple things were! Thanks!!!!!!!
The man is a genius. Are you going to be making that CRATEX holder in different sizes ? I think you could sell quite a lot of those now that people have seen your prototype.
Wow. Did not know how this was done and now I know. I have to try this. I have learned so much from your channel. Thanks. A question on the jeweling. If you reverse the rotation do you get a different look? If so , the contrasting look in alternate rows may be interesting.
Hi Tony! I don't think the swirl rotation is noticeable, it just looks like a swirl... I can't reverse my Drill press though so I'm not sure! Good question! Thanks very much!!!!!!
