Kham Moon, Pyi Mai's mother, is about 32 years old now, so she's more experienced in Life than 17yo Bunma, and has no issues being a companion to D-Max, so she generally keeps a closer eye on things than Bunma. 5 actually, Pyi Mai's mother Kham Moon, nanny Feung Fah, Chaba's mother Bunma, and the babies. :) They're doing so well, so good to see!

Yes, they spend their nights in their night shelters. :) (ENP has 3 ENP-ele channels, each uploaded by different staff, it seems, and this one, I don't think, speak English, so they don't answer questions here. On ElephantNews, those staff members rarely answer questions, but on Elephant Nature Park channel, they answer more often, as their English skills are better. So I hope my answer to you helped a little.)

I don’t see any fear

I'm not saying this is the cause, but it could be from having slept on concrete when she was tiny at the elephant-camp from which they were bought. The pressure of their weight bearing down on concrete does a lot of damage to their feet and to their flesh that is between their bones and the concrete when they're laying on it. Those places don't give elephants soft sand-beds on which to sleep, and because of the filth and the chains and concrete, most chained captive elephants don't lay down to sleep for YEARS/decades, only cat-napping standing up all night every night. When they collapse due to abuse and overwork and have no choice about laying down, they develop great pressure wounds from laying on the concrete; it also puts immense weight onto their internal organs to lay flat, can make it difficult to breathe, instead of laying on the side of a sand/dirt hill so that they're on an incline.

You can study online, you can carefully observe footage of elephants in those places, you can attentively listen to those that work with elephants, to what they say about these things. That is what they have said, not about Chaba in particular, but on the subject, including a similar spot on Pyi Mai.
