Thanks Gavin. Very useful info, I’ve just watched this and your previous mobile broadband video. We’re moving house and going to a rental for a few months and then to a new property. I need the internet for work so this looks like an ideal solution. Thanks again. PS liked and subscribed 👍

My old tp 400 got hit by lightning. Now i thinking about buying this tp 600 or the huawei b535. Do they have the same cat 6 that you are talking about? My issue is that my speeding is changing often between 2 - 25mbit living outside the town. Also have an external antenn on the roof. Doesnt help much.

Thanks Gavin, it's great to hear your review feedback. I ordered a TP-Link MR600 last night, before I saw your video this morning! I'm really looking forward to better and more consistent broadband. We are currently with TalkTalk and old BT copper phone cable. BT 'fixed it' and I was able to get 25mbps a week ago, but now it's back down to less than 10mbps with drop outs, for £40 per month!!! Thankfully I've not renewed my contract. My daughter has Smarty and we were able to watch a movie via her hotspot, so it looks like Smarty with the MR600 should be at least has good as that. That will be good enough for us at half the price of TalkTalk. Top video and I've subbed. Thanks :)

Thanks Gavin. The Cat 6 explanation is useful. I assumed it had to do with a LAN connection. Wonder why more manufacturers make a song and dance about this 'dual band' capability. In any case I thought 'dual band' was something else, but you've explained it clearly.

Great video thank you, I will be using this with a 4g sim but turning off the wifi on the unit itself to use my existing deco mesh network devices fingers crossed!! liked and subscribed

Hi Shaun, I also used a Deco system as well. I've gone back to using the Wifi directly on the router (for now), simply because in my scenario, I found the Deco system was no better than the Wifi directly from the router itself. Obviously all depends on the building, walls, area to cover etc.

Good oven. Is the Archer MR600 V2 or the Archer MR500 V1 better? It seems to me that Archer MR500 has a better sensitivity in signal reception... Am I wrong? Thank you
@LucidComputerSolutions
@LucidComputerSolutions Год назад
I don't know - all I can say is, I'd expect the MR600 to be better than the MR500, purely based on the higher model number.

@LucidComputerSolutions
@LucidComputerSolutions Год назад
Yes, but you need to make sure the antenna has the right connector though as there are several difference types of connection.

Hi there, If I use a 4G/5G sim card only with the MR600 router, will my download speed be up to 300 Mbps or 150 Mbps? unless I attach a Cat 6 cable? Just so you know, I plan to use it as a sim card router only (without ethernet cables). If 150 Mbps download speed without cat 6 cable still, as might as well get an MR400. Please advise. Thank you.

Gavin, what speed test software do you recommend?
@moniquem783
@moniquem783 Год назад
Hi Gavin. That was really helpful. I do have a couple of questions still. Firstly, when using the wifi network on it, can I permanently turn off the 5GHz band and run on 2.4Ghz only? I understand this will increase congestion and reduce speeds, but 5GHz gives me migraines so slower speeds are preferable to that! Secondly, will I be able to connect a mesh router to it? It sounds like I will, but just want to be certain. I haven’t yet decided which mesh router I want as I don’t need that until I move, but I’m leaning towards one of the TP-Link Deco options. The TP-Link website doesn’t list the Deco as a compatible product under the OneMesh banner though. Thirdly, I’ve recently started dabbling in smart home devices. Mostly just lights and power plugs at this stage but I have plans to have lots of fun with it once I move. Is there any reason this might not be suitable for that, or is there a different one I should consider? I will be moving to a rural area so 4G is probably my best bet for internet at this stage.

1. Yes, You can turn off either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. 2. Yes, It has mesh tab in settings. 3. Yes, TP link has also TP link Smart Hardware devices, though I don't know if it connects to other brands.

@@arielgwapo143 thanks. I ended up buying a TP-Link Deco X20 4G which I’m very happy with. It also means I’ve now decided which Deco model I’m going with so that’s another decision sorted 😊

Thank you for this informative video. I've seen a newer version of this router the MR500. Would you know whether it is better than the MR600? Also, you note that the cat 6 isn't referring to the cable. But do you recommend using a cat 6 and higher cable to connect this device to a laptop? I'll appreciate your reply. 🙏
@LucidComputerSolutions
@LucidComputerSolutions Год назад
I've not had my hands on the MR500 so I couldn't comment (yet). Cabled connections are always better than Wifi, but for your average person, using Wifi within close proximity to the router will be fine.

Moving house in a weeks time to a park home site where there is no fixed internet available. Just bought the TP Link Archer MR600 yesterday and just got my Smarty sim card today. I have been on the 3 network with my phone for a long time now. While at park home site I ran a speed test on my phone and was getting between 50 and 100 mps downoad speeds. Fingers crossed I get simular when router set up....?

@@brianharris7880 I'm now using a Huawei router with a Smarty SIM in it..... Works brilliant. I am quite lucky though. There's a mast not far away. Getting well over 100 mbs. But the SIM works perfect in the router ..... £20 a month for the SIM and that's unlimited internet.... Router is a bit pricey though. But I think it's well worth it ...

thanks for the video. in terms of WiFi does it use WiFi 5 or WiFi 6 ?. I'm looking to use this just as a normal router and not use the 4G feature thanks.

@LucidComputerSolutions
@LucidComputerSolutions 2 года назад
External antenna's are recommend if they are required and can really help improve speeds further. I've not used one my self, but a friend of mine who works with 4G solution all the time, uses products from Mikrotik.
@David-cs9zo
@David-cs9zo Год назад
Honestly they are useless if you have lots of windows and live in an elevated apartment.I used to buy a lot of antennas but in a city surrounded by multiple towers it's usually your distance from tower that matters the most.Now if you live in a flat house surrounded by buildings directional antennas can improve your speed although not by much cause you are far from tower and even with antenna the ping is gonna suffer and you are gonna have packet loss.So at the end of the day the speed you get depends on the neighbourhood it's mostly luck.If lte sucks in your area try cable,adsl,vdsl one of them usually is gonna work out for you.

Hi , we live in a rural area, we get our internet via microwave with a receiver up on our roof. Only EE provide any 4g mobile signal and it is very weak, we have a garden room about 50 metres away from the house and higher up the garden, our WiFi won't reach, so I'm trying to find a solution to improve the weak 4g signal. Will a mobile router with an external aerial/receiver mounted as high as possible on the garden room roof with an unlimited data only simcard (£22 per month) help improve things, if so can you recommend a decent cat 6 router. Cheers

Buy a pointingXPOL-2-5 antenna this will sort out your weak signal. We use this at home and also mobile in our motorhome.
