Intelligence is problem solving skill, wisdom is decision making skill and remembrance is to remember things. Wisdom can be taught and gained from the experience but not the other 2.
You said B employees give a buffer with results and timelines, I think it is stupid if you don't keep a buffer. Because management never understands your issues/life. If the project is delayed by your given deadline, you are labeled as a liar and a non-serious person. So yes, I will always have a buffer to keep my sanity.
@@ehmadzubair I'm a regular viewer of your content and usually love it. However, this specific podcast didn't resonate with me, as evident from others' comments. When I joined Arbisoft as a freshie, I was fortunate to have fantastic leaders who didn't treat me as the guest said in this podcast. They never enforced strict discipline or pressured me to be on time. Instead, over time, I naturally developed the ability to assess situations. I learned when punctuality mattered and when it was acceptable to relax. There was never any pressure to report or fear of judgment. Thanks to this environment, I can proudly say that I'm now among the most reliable and accountable members of my team. Despite working with individuals having 6-7 years more experience than me, I contribute an equivalent amount in terms of development. If we adopt the practices mentioned by the guest, I fear it might foster a toxic culture reminiscent of constant monitoring, akin to school life.

He advocates enforcement, pressure and (LOL) punctuality over merit, work-ethic and quality. The best companies I know of do not care about punctuality AT ALL. Aap bas kaam kar ke do and they don't care if you do it at home, early in the week or late in the week. Banda time pe aaye, laikn jitna late ghar jaaye koi masla nahi. Proper leadership goes for encouragement and rewards over enforcement and punishment. In ke 'A players' sawaal nahi poochte where was Google jaise companies me bhi top players sawaal na pooche to farigh kar dete hain ke yeh to apni assumptions pe projects chala raha hai. I guess this is just a very young company, with zero employees that have had international exposure to what a quality software engineering environment, or even employee, is really like. And understandably so. Top 'A players' often have compensations greater then the annual revenue of these typical software companies. I suggest you guys look to interviewing people from VentureDive (they built Careem) or maybe startups like bazaar. They are at least headed in the right direction.
@@ehmadzubair Arbisoft culture is way different than whole software industry of Pakistan. But, other software houses can't afford that culture because they are not cause oriented, they are money oriented. XiQ, Systems and i2c and all these giants are usually run by Businessmen and other usually has CEO which usually got their education from Pakistan and Arbisoft's CEO did his education from LUMS and Stanford.
Abdur Rab is spot on! Excellent talk and strong leadership qualities. Smart people will LEARN from what he is saying and the HATERS will hate as they only know how to hate and spread fear. Learn from what he is saying, There are very few A players in real life. No one is born an A player. Unless you are ready to learn and see how you can grow you will only hate and spread fear and never attain A level. Emad asks what is the problem with a happy B player? Good is the enemy of Great! Being satisfied with being 2nd best leads you to 3rd place to 4th place to bottom. Software is global play ground. The best succeed and the rest barely survive. Remember that WhatsApp was 55 employees and sold for $22 Billion. This is an example of A players. Imagine your company selling for $22 Billion.
With respect, guest's thoughts and a way of communication clearly giving an idea about the culture of his company😢 If you want all the A players in your team then there is a chance of daily conflicts and we should show respect for B Players in a team too. We can say that B player is just in a comfort zone we cant say that he/she is not a good resource. By watching all along, the whole conversation is a micromanagement.
It's disheartening to see that when senior developers after gaining a bit of expertise, they often become arrogant. Pakistani companies struggle to scale with this mindset. It reflects a broader issue of a regressive and authoritarian approach in our software industry and management practices. This talk is a bullshit.
That's just the sethiya disease plaguing our companies. Senior devs with actual expertise are poached by foreigners while the leftovers are what these companies get to see. No matter what the field is, top-talent will almost always have a diva-like attitude because they are constantly in demand. They have several offers lined up at all times and they will move on as soon as the company becomes overbearing.

This is the first podcast of yours from which I am getting toxic vibes! 😅 I have worked in many organizations in Pakistan and what I found is everytime a B player "with some hidden skills 🤞" got promoted to the manager level and most of the times A players remains in the lower tier and those B players manage them using these kind of micro management tactics.
I believe that there is no such thing as misuse. You either learn or not learn. When you learn faster, you make a switch faster. And then there will be people and/or factors helping you stick to the company. There may be different perspectives to this. This is just one of them.

Go to University and complete the bachelor along with that Master my Coding skills. Then try to find the job as a Fresher. 2nd one..... Learn the Coding from E learning platforms. Make projects and master the Coding skills for 4 Years. Then go to Market for job with my projects. WHICH PATH YOU SUGGEST ME ???????
