I've been using the Gamakatsu hybrid worm hook instead of a regular EWG. Although the the point still runs parallel with the keeper shaft of the hook, it is slightly above that keeper, thus giving you more of a bite gap. It still has a tendency to rise, like RB said, but I've started to us a small nail weight to keep it down. If the fish are actually biting the bait, as opposed to just bumping it like they do, my hook up ratio has been very good.

I'd like to try a fluke like that and one on a jig head. Tandem rigs are pretty popular for the saltwater and having 2 different presentations instead of 2 baits on jig heads sounds better to me.

Why not just bend the EWG hook so that the fluke will nose dive slightly? I have too much grass, cover etc to run with an exposed hook. Your thoughts. Doesn’t the swivel help a bit to bring the fluke down?

This method makes you buy more flukes.....since you'll be constantly snagging and breaking them off!

@@jasonsparks4601 I don't use EWG hooks on flukes- U use straight shank hooks and rig like a Texas rig. EWG hooks are terrible to use on flukes- but I'm glad OTHER people still use them. I fish flukes on the bottom more than high in the water column.
