Here are some signs of parkinsonism that are consistent with what we see in Biden: - Psychomotor retardation (slowing of thoughts and movements) - Aphasia (trouble with word-finding including mixing up words and names) - Diminished executive function including issues with working memory and trouble maintaining focus - Softened voice, hoarseness - Masked facies (mask-like facial expression) - Rigid gait - Frequent falls - Moments of "freezing up" of movement There are multiple possible causes of this, including Parkinson’s Disease, but not limited to this. It is progressive and will worsen with time. Unlike dementia, people with parkinsonism can have markedly good and bad days. The memory issues are also different to dementia because in dementia people become incapable of laying down new memories which Biden does not seem to have a problem with. However, it may progress to dementia in the future. I do not have a medical background but multiple doctors are pointing these things out about Biden.
Add bradykinesia, or a form of bradykinesia (difficulty initiating movement). Biden handlers have been so dishonest. There is an opportunity to conveniently and quickly label it Parkinsons Disease (which it may well be), and walk away with dignity. Even if an assignment of Parkinsons for Biden doesn't technically meet all criteria, would it be less honest than Biden's entourage having attempted to conceal his decline for the past 1-3 years? It is mind numbing that there is anyone remaining who thinks that Biden has any possibility of beating Trump. There is so much nonsense talk about Biden emerging strong to alleviate fears in the wake of the debate. So where is he? A fundraiser, in front of a teleprompter, at the house of a former Goldman Sachs exec (now NJ Gov) with 7 attendees doesn't cut it. And the continuous train of excuses with colds, jet lag, "debate preparation overload" and inadequate sleep only make him look more pathetic.
The White House physician has specifically said that Biden does not have Parkinson's. He also lists 5 medications Biden has been prescribed and none are for Parkinson's disease. [Source: NPR]
Scuffed walking or short strides and not picking your feet up is a typical sign that doctors look for in geriatric patients. It's never an upward sign.
Rather than listening to American journalists, I'd like to hear from foreign journalists who have experience following Biden when he gives press conferences at international events. I think the US journalists have been covering up Biden's feebleness while the foreign journalists can be more honest as they don't (or shouldn't) have an obligation to close their eyes.
The fact that U.S. journalists don’t tell the truth about it anymore is sad as hell.. well some have .. many have but they’re fired, cancelled, and imprisoned.
Revealed at last. It was so in your face It was just shocking to watch If he was my husband. I would have rushed Biden by Ambulance to the nearest hospital. If it was my family Id expect them to make my health a priority
Yeah it’s pretty gross, huh? Saying you’re the ONLY ONE that can do it is such utter BS and insulting to all the other talented people in the party. It’s absurd. Let’s be honest, when he was a lot more lucid he was still third rate, there were more talented people back then but the party bosses are corporate hacks. Also isn’t it time for Gen X to be President? The Boomers won’t let go, they’re being selfish. (Except my guy Sanders, he’s always working FOR people not himself).
Biden says he can work a six-hour day. I've always assumed that it would take at least 10 to 12 hours a day - sometimes 16 hours a day - to perform the job adequately.
@@marymccluer1630 That would be fine with me. They've got a stellar record so far. That said, he's either going to step down or he's not. All this public condemnation is weakening the whole party.
@@linguaphile42 I think it's important be realistic. Biden is losing in the polls. The time to voice concerns is now, before the convention. After that, it will be too late to change barring something like a major stroke or death.
Biden’s advisers have long been aggressively dismissive of questions about his age. But now they’re acknowledging that Biden’s slowdown is undeniable. The debate has forced the president to more frontally acknowledge the limitations of his age, when before he largely made light of it.
I love you Joe but if you stay in the American public will vote for Tyrant Trump; if you step down and give your support to the Democratic nominee he/she will at least have a fighting chance.
Gretchen and Shapiro would be a golden ticket or Gretchen and Moore. But if we have to keep Kamala then Shapiro sounds great for VP. The current ticket it’s just a no go if we want to avoid Trump winning.
@@HarryF-tz5foWhat rules does the commenter want to change? Biden not accepting the nomination and freeing up his delegates is totally within the rules.
@@vladseva2327 Biden should resign or the 25th Amendment should be invoked. The VP is chosen to complete the Presidents term should he/she be unable to in case of death or for health reasons. The Democrats have never followed the rules in the past when the President at that time had health crisis (Wilson and Roosevelt) doubtful that they will follow the rules this time. The Democrat establishment selected Biden in 2020 and he was selected again in 2024. Both Sanders and RFK Jr. were squeezed out of the process to where Kennedy had to run as an independent. Biden was not fit for office in 2020 and the Presidential debates that year proved that was the case by anyone who watch them. Biden was caught several times by the other candidates such as Julian Castro in forgetting what he had said not 5 minutes before.
Great interview, David Ignatius (DI) is a knowledgeable person. That said, his list of potential new Dem leaders is a bit illusory: mainly east-coast elitist thoughts. Any Dem leader other than Kamala Harris presents real issues: concerning continuity, not to mention legal access to Biden/Harris funding and delegates, etc.
The Democrats in the US impose much tighter control over their members than the Republicans. This makes it very difficult for their politicians to do what is obviously necessary in jettisoning Biden. This has also made things more difficult for a journalist like David Ignatius who seems to have absent from American news channels since he questioned Biden's fitness a year ago. I appreciate the fact that you carried this interview on your channel.
It seems David Ignatius was on MSNBC last in September 2023 when he upset Mika Brzezinski by saying Biden was too old. He apparently wasn't invited back again.
I'm just trying to find out what's going on here in the US. Thanks for posting Ignatius's perspective France 24. He is well connected and often says smart things.
I am now 77 years old and I retired from my job as a fish management biologist effective on January 6, 2023. I was upset when it was first announced that President Biden at his age would run for re-election in 2024. Therefore, I chose to not respond to repeated Democratic Central Committee's requests for information from me from that point on. This last episode during the debates confirmed my concern regarding the remainder of President Biden's term. President Biden and his wife's responses and denials to his recent decline do not begin to reflect on what should be further expected to coincide with a new term in 2025. His potential re-election amounts pure fantasy at this point. His legacy may either be determined to be positive as was his performances for his 2020-2024 term, but most likely negative if he continues and would likely lose to Trump in the 2024 election. President Biden and his wife appear to be of the mind that if he were to continue his campaign strictly by his family's sole decision and lose in that effort what would only matter to him was that HE did his best. The concerns and issues, especially the issues of past denials and hiding the truth of the Presidents decline requires WE, the supporters of democrat campaigns up and down the ballot be allowed OUR opportunity to determine our best most vigorous candidates to continue a 2024 campaign.
David Ignatius is an intelligent and thoughtful writer. He took a lot of heat for that article, but Democrats would do well to listen to him. He’s spot on with his thoughts about VP Harris and picks for top candidates. Whitmer and Moore are really impressive. Secretary Raimondo is not mentioned often, but she is a star.
Vice President is always a weird job. I heard her speak recently and she’s worlds better than she was 4 years ago. I think once she’s out of the shadows, she will shine.
Gish Gallop, "It's a rhetorical technique in which someone throws out a fast string of lies,non-sequiturs, and specious arguments, so many that it is impossible to fact-check or rebut them in the amount of time it took to say them. Trying to figure out how to respond makes the opponent look confused, because they don't know where to start grappling with the flood that just happened. It's a form of gaslighting". For me as a voter, there was no debate, gaslighting took it. Shutting off the mich did nothing.
Not the topic of this discussion but if they ever did have a debate on this subject, it would be boring because France 24 would invite only left wing extremists to talk about it.
Please comment on the issue of Ohio ballot eligibilty. DNC was going to nominate him in July so he would be on the ballot in Ohio if the Convention picks a new name in August
The media suddenly discovers what has been clear to us since the Democrat Primaries of 2016. Here's Tucker Carlson's hilarious comment at the time: "Biden's train of thought didn't simply get lost, it hopped the tracks and became a fiery derailment, plunging off the bridge into the gorge below."
Everyone saw Biden debate Trump in 2020 and most people thought Biden did better than Trump. Biden wasn't in the 2016 primaries. He's obviously done downhill since 2020. Both major candidates are mentally unfit and and RFK Jr. is a conspiracy nut. What choices.
The media Always talks about how bad it would be for the president being an “R” and the house and senate being republican along with the conservative court but it’s great if the Democratic Party has all 3, White House and both chambers of congress which should tell everyone what’s wrong with The Media!
He thinks Biden has done a good job😂😂😂😂😂😂...letting in 15 million bogus asylum seekers is a good job? France 24, get some conservatives on your channel. This is pathetic.
Hey Olga, can you do me a favor? When you try to write disinformation comments, can you try to come up with something new? Your material is getting very old.
You don't know how any of this works, do you? Google supply and demmand. The supply is low because Biden decided to cancel the XL Pipeline and stopped drilling for oil.
Noone who votes will ever forget this debate. Even if they did not see it they have seen the tik tok clips. Or heard it from people that Biden is too old. There is no way back for him. Democrats have to act fast now, and stop trying to spin the unspinnable.
They probably watched him hoodwink Repbublicans twice on budget issues, and then embarrass them in two State of the Union speeches and thought he could not only do it, but turn around the campaign with it.
@@linguaphile42 Absolutely True. Just look at these two SOU speeches compared to the ABC interview. It's probably a case of creeping senility that has escalated just over this last year. There are both Dem and Rep (David Brooks, eg.) who have said this is not the man I knew even recently.
Biden is too old to last 4 years in that job...so then we'll get dizzy Kam, sooner or later, or the nightmare MAGA Dictator. Wow...what a choice. Where is Hillary??
Great insights by David Ignatius. Rent and grocery prices are soaring, and a lot of voters are eager for change. Democracy seems esoteric, rather than existential to many voters. What they don't understand is that Trump would put tariffs on all imported goods, which would make prices rise even higher. If dems hope to win, they've got to put forth a candidate who can articulate a vision of a path forward.
Again, people really need to think, groceries arrive on the shelves by magic, just a snap of the fingers. Everyone received a raise or starting pay higher, framers of fruits, vegetables workers, property taxes, maintenance of the fields,, storage and processes plants, framers for meat such as cattle, pigs, turkey along with over animals, they need to eat and who feed them and clean out their living areas, meat processes plants manufacturing, storage or food containers, handlers of products, operation of trucks, ie; gas, drivers and delivery along with handlers of the products. Oh, fish ie; operation of boats, fisherman, fish processes plant and storage and food containers , ice making the ice, refrigeration, who make and pay for the building of the refrigerators/ coolers. Pays the workers who manufacturing the refrigerator parts. The build themselves, maintenance, cleaners, heating, A/C taxes, electricity, ground and parking lot attention.
Yeah I remember my customers bitching and moaning about extra costs on their orders cause they were tariffs… guess what? No tariffs since Biden became President and any Democrat would do the same.
@@dkizzy55you might be a communist, not an American, in that case. You ever hear of the Free Market? You'd cause panic amongst GOP if you mention price fixing. Do it.
Excellent presentation . . . both informative and engaging; enlightening in multiple ways -- France 24 demonstrates itself a worthy source for good journalism.
Alert and orientated, but sometimes Falls "up" stairs, off a standing bike, calls out teleprompter cues, often speaks in tongues, talks about things that never happened, wanders off aimlessly, forgets the day, where he is, who his wife is, can't find his way off stage, shakes hands with the invisible, talks to the dead, and needed a bunny rabbit to show him the way home from his own garden..
Wrote the following in November 23 Biden should step down in favor of Gavin newsom with all his support, after accomplishing so much, even moderate republicans would vote for him. Here is a controversial thought, to reduce the toxicity of Trump and the harm he is doing, to be pardoned by a democratic president, hey if presidents can be forgiven for going to wrong wars, maybe if America can put Trump episode in the rear view mirror and move on.
Pete Buttigieg. Has the best communication skills of any of the Democrats; is highly intelligent; never loses his cool; has military experience; experience running a large federal bureacracy . . .
I'm voting for the old man with a stutter that did a great job and has great character, not the criminal that assaults women, runs companies that are a fraud, attacks democracies and has evil plans.
@@ed52369 Who has he raped? Who has he stiffed in his business dealings? Who has he committed adultery with? Who has he called vermin? Whose handicap has he mocked? (To name just a few examples.)
At his best Biden is still pretty good, but at 81+ he doesn't have the stamina to perform at his best often enough. Pete Buttigieg is much better than Biden has ever been and could, I think, reduce felon to tears in any future debates.
Everyone said that Biden shouldn't run again and have an open democrat primary. Biden needs more to go. Doesn't matter how good his record is if he can't sell it to the public. Against a bully, he appears even weaker. Get out Joe and take Kamala with you. Of course, neither will walk away from power
Liz Truss' supply-side budget was a wreck for the UK (as was Reagan's in the US) You need to think independently about the economic picture and read the arguments on BOTH sides.
