Because they didn’t pay any sampling fees I don’t remember anything on the news or underground on the streets hip-hop anywhere about them suing him or he had to pay for the sample I think it came out in in the 80s do you know Cyprian was just you could do that, and nobody really been … I think since people was it in the hip hop back, then they didn’t mean nothing to them even if they heard it but I doubt they heard it but this joint was all over on the radio. It was a classic
Use to listen to this on my walkman cassette player back in 85 when I was 14. walkin around the old hood listening deep in my thoughts. those were the days man!
"THIS IS WBLS WITH SUPER ROCKIN MR. MAGIC AND RIGHT NOW IT'S 30 DEGREES OUTSIDE SO JUST STAY INSIDE AND ROCK WITH THE COOL SOUNDS OF MARLEY MARL UP UNTIL 12 MIDNITE"...................HOW I MISS THOSE DAYS WHEN HIP HOP WAS SO NEW
1986! When this classic came out. I was 17 and copping the goose coat and this playing from every other store on the strip. NY was really popping. The birthplace of Hip Hop!
I was the same age it was doook dope I didn’t hear anything about him paying sibling fees cause people to hip-hop was just like whatever especially Biden nobody in a movie industry for that movie ever and would never think that is going to amount to anything and I don’t think no one heard it from the movie no one cause you know people like that Black people like whatever and hip-hop back then whatever but you write this was playing everywhere. This is so hard.
1986 When I was 17 and could not miss a Red Alert and Chuck Chillout show at Kiss 98.7 and switch to Mr. magic and marly marl at 107.5 WBLS FM. Wow! Those were the days.
Technically they didn't sample it, instead they replayed it themselves. Classic track though! Yeah, I remember when they'd close out the red alert show with it too. Great times!
Phantasm theme song sampled that themselves from an old school group called Seals and Crofts, the song is "Red Long Ago" in 1976. Phantasm came out in 1979.
My friend Sean turned me onto this song. He was high listening to it in his basement. I said let's take this to the rink and skate to it. The DJ slowed it down just a bit and it was the perfect "backwards skate" song. They must have used this exclusively for about a year for that skate. Perfecto!
Another Doug-E Fresh song I use to listen to pre-game 86 at Phoebus High School in Hampton, Va!!! We came out to this Homecoming....which we won 27-24.....Best ERA OF Hip-Hop EVER!!!!
skip1lp I have to agree with you bro. this was a great era in hip hop. the his just kept coming. I'm from New York but I was station in Fort Lee Virginia when the sun was out.

if I had the equipment and/or the skills I would kill to just hear a metal guitar version of this. I heard it in my head a minute and pictured 'boyz in the hood' as the bassline to it too
at first I didn't care much for this song but for some reason it seems to get better with age just like fine wine and it's now one of my all time favorite songs, I'm so happy I gave this song another chance, this song reminds me of listening to old school hip hop on Music Choice in the wee hours of the morning and it always gives me that 2AM vibe
Yo I feel you on that. I remember when he used to end his show with this song by Doug E. &and the get fresh grew word to my family and friends that made God bless their souls that they rest in peace and I say word up doc. October 25 2018.
This is the song that DJ.Clark Kent used to play when he was a DJ at the club Union Square in NY, he would set the party off with this and after this song the party started jumping this was his set it off song "Union Square 1985 , 1986" very classic Hip Hop era
Ima have to remake this one myself. Not only cause its jamming but that movie (PHANTASM) HAD ME FREAKED OUT AS A CHILD. "BOOOOOY YOU PLAY A GOOD GAAAME BOOOOY"
