I idolized doug gust for so long when I was little. He always stood out to me when I watched him race. I met him one time near madison, wisconsin when I was little with my dad. One of the best days of my life.
This video is sick as hell!! Gust is the man! Not knocking this music because to each his own, but i just had this video on mute while Iggy and the Stooges ' Wanna Be Your Dog" played over this video....much better feel than the song on this video. Takes the 'kick assness" of Gust's riding to a whole different level! Epic!!!
Ok thanks. I could probably do it once I purchase the repair manual. I just wasn't sure If I needed to rip the motor apart or anything to get to them. Thanks for all the help!
@isawafish69times - im pretty sure thats his factory race bike, so it most likely has some mods done to the engine. i.e cherry bomb, powerer commander, air intake etc. i could be wrong though. i just bought an 2006 ltr, they are sweet right from the factory honestly.
Well I bought it 2 weeks ago. When I went to buy it it started right up. ( i'm assuming the seller had warmed it up prior to me coming to test it) I brought it home ( 2 hour ride sitting in my truck bed) and it already wouldn't start. So i'm assuming It had this problem for a while. The ONLY way i've been able to get it started since i've gotten it home is push starting it.
@isawafish69times its definately not stock the motor probably doesnt have that much done besides exhaust, intake and programmer but everything else on it is not stock. watch when he goes by hes using 3000 dollar suspension including the a-arms, the subframe is probably aftermarket as well as the swingarm and rear axle. the pros quads are on an entirely different level than a stock one
Thank you! and No the motor is not loud at all, My buddy has the exact same bike, a z400 just a year older, sounds about the same as his. Is it pretty hard to check the valves? I'm really an amateur, the only in depth repair i've done is replacing the rear axle bearings.
Ok. well I'm only asking because I just bought an 03 z400. It's fast enough for me, I just don't know if it's made for jumping, I don't want to break it!
yeah, its definitely the valves. Probably 98% sure. Now you really should check them, but you dont have to. if it gets worse then dont force it to run or it will seize up and you will have to buy a new head, piston and cylinder. Is the motor load, like not the exhaust or anything, but like noise of the head?
@MyNamesMatTheFatRat Ok thanks! idk wht i want now, my favorite rider is ryan bemis and he rides a trx 450r so thats wht i want kinda but that ltr is soo sick to! i was just wondering beacuse i knw that if that bike he was riding is stock im deff getting that cus it would kill a trx anyday if it was stock.
Is that 4wheeler strait from the dealer besides the stickers and handgaurds? or does it have parts to improve accerleration, speed, etc? If it does have special ordered parts how much more improved is it then a regular dealer one right from suzuki? I am asking this beacuse i am thinking about getting the same bike. thanks!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, and i really dont know on the swing arm bolt on a 400. Though now if you cant get to the back of the bolt, I see no problem with either drilling out the bolt, or like you said using a bolt extractor. I'll ask someone about it who knows a lot and ill send you another message.
Do you know much about them, the z400? Mine runs great. But it will not start with the electric start, It turns over, and you can hear it almost start ( full choke) and i've even given it some throttle. But nothing. So I always have to push start it, and it starts fine. Then once it's warmed up, the electric start works just fine =/ Any ideas?
Mostly when that happens its usually your valves, they become to tight and its hard to start cold. Has it been like this, or did it used to start cold and now you cant?
@FaceVol5 ok thanks man! i want the ltr but i think my dad is leaning for trx so ill see but thnx. i have a 250 now and just yesterday i completly wrecked it, hit a tree at like 40mph and it just tore the hell out of it, so inma have to get a new one now.
It definitely could, but not near as well. Though of course this has tons of money in suspension. I have 3 LTR's and people say they are the worst and the slowest, but they just look at the yamaha commercials and think that yamaha's are the best.
Hey I hate to bother you again haha. But You seem to know what you're talking about and I thought maybe you could help. On the rear of my swing arm, there are 2 bolts. Used to adjust chain tension. The left one snapped, the bolt, I have no idea how. But not I have a tiny piece of bolt, not big enough to get the nut back on so the chain is fully loose. My question is, can I use a bolt extractor to get that out? or is there a head / Nut on the other side of the bolt which would prevent this?
umm, its not hard, you just need to know the right steps and specs of your quads motor. Um there are these things called filler gauges or something like that, that lets you see if your cam is to tight or too loose. All you do is put that between the cam and a bucket. The bucket is right under that cam, which the the filler gauges go between. The only other thing, before you do this you have to make sure the timing is lined up, its really easy, once you see a diagram or something, it-clear up
