Doug Marcaida demonstrates integration of wrist locks with the karambit knife in this exclusive footage from a Los Angeles seminar in 2016.
I have hundreds of hours of previously unreleased footage through my years of travelling and documenting FMA masters from around the world. As my journey evolves, I am finding renewed appreciation for the knowledge, skill and artistry contained within my hard drives. I intend to release them over time as a service and presentation to the FMA community.
The footage will stand on their own merit. I will not impose my thoughts and opinions of them. They are documented as they happened and they will be presented in the same way. I hope practitioners of the Filipino Martial Arts will find them useful and valuable.

I really want to see Doug in a sparring session, or at least someone who he trained, because it seems to complex to work in a real fight.

He will look very pale in sparring. Just as pale as Romel Trtal looked in sparring on sticks and knives with an average capable female athlete. All these clowns have long ago turned PTK into a regular Filipino circus.

Random surprise attacks should be necessary in training because it will train you for the real thing as an attacker will not make there presence known or stop to tell you what they will do like in a kung fu movie or an anime. A silent killer is the worst type. You could be a loud aggressive defender in hopes it will scare your attacker and never have to engage, but that will rarely happen. Thats just my opinion on the subject matter. I love how doug aleays makes training fun.

At 22 to 24 seconds that was a finger swap 😳 bro I train this weapon and I never seen that taught or demonstrated, I would like to say it's a useless move but at the speed he did it idk 🤷‍♂️ if it would work and he waited for control but against someone like himself I doubt he would use that. No shade I'm impressed but just saying.

😂It's funny to watch, why doesn't the opponent reach his target? Why does he freeze for no reason at the end of his attack when the "master" has done nothing for it? For one move of the attacker, the "master" makes two. There is never such a speed advantage in real life. One who has such an advantage in speed has no need for boxing, or karate, or Kali, or . Neither ... nor ... The "master" has absolutely no idea how to bring his opponent off-balance and put him in an uncomfortable position. And that is why his opponent is always in a stable position. And so on and so forth. In short, the cause and effect relationship is broken and as a result, we can see this Filipino circus.

Bang bang. I'm silence silence. Lot of idea. At the end of combat. All that don't matter. This is art and lot of bs. People are sucker.

You're right, it is very artistic. Doug even says at one point in this video, "who's going to let you actually do that"? But I think that there are some very big, core ideas here that can be applied effectively, which for me is the whole point of this. (ie. Anticipate the next attack, or control your opponent). The rest is just the artistry of how you do those things, and a lot of this specific video was just Doug having some fun with it while demonstrating some techniques and ideas

@@brendanbiggs4174 You're wrong. Most people take this whole circus thing as something serious and in real life can suffer greatly from it because they can't get anything out of what this clown is demonstrating. This is just irresponsible behavior that is very damaging. The man is just making money and doesn't care about the consequences.
