Doug is a VERY funny AA speaker with a great sense of humor. This share from earlier this year had me rolling with laughter a few times as Doug was telling his awesome stories. I absolutely LOVE messages that are both hilarious and have a powerful story of recovery! Doug has wonderful sobriety and has an incredible ability to convey the message of the 12 steps to a huge audience. This tape is a MUST listen and one that you will be telling your friends and family about. Enjoy!
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
Every tape is carefully selected to ensure its quality and that it is entertaining to listen to. You can trust Odomtology 12-Step Recovery Media to be synonymous with the best online recovery material out there. QUALITY is our mission. This is why we have such a large and engaged following. Have fun and enjoy listening to the amazing, wonderful, and powerful recovery speakers!

Today has been horrible, I came home with the mindset of not drinking but then that regular loneliness kicked in before I took my shower. My mind was going back and forth about how to deal with it and the desire to drink was incredibly strong. It's now almost 10p and the liquor store closes at 11p. I'm so thankfull for these videos. Day 1 for me.

Hey that's a great job my friend ,I most say that I was just like you ,I did everything mostly meth and vodka ,then mostly meth and opioids I was homeless, hopeless and hated myself, and would go to detox so many times a don't even remember and would go to rehab like 4or5 times only completed one 30 day program, ,only to get out an go right back to the same crap and finally one day a year an a half ago now ,I gave up and set my mind to getting sober an clean at 43 years old. I'm working a strong AA program got a sponsor and now chairing meetings 3 times a week and sponsoring others ,,and other service work in the program ,,,,if I can get clean anybody can ,,key things is being ready to change and really want it,,and no once you get clean work them program to stay clean and that's wear you get stronger

I really enjoyed “I’m an alcoholics but also a drug addict…”. I have a hard time sharing that I’m a drug addicit in AA because it feels weird. Glad it came from someone else so now it won’t feel so weird.

It also depends on the meeting. DOCs for my sponsor and grand-sponspr are heroin for the first, and cocaine for the second. They chose to commit to AA, bc if they drink it always leads them back to the DOCs. Mickey Bush is another great speaker for those with multiple substance uses.

I love listening to these aa speaker meetings. I'm almost 4 months sober, and the longest I've ever been sober is 5 1/2 months. Taking it one day at a time. I'm a drug addict and an alcoholic.

I listen to these A.A's as much as I can. I have over 9 years in the rooms. I am so proud to announce I have 2 whole years of active sobriety and I cannot wait to see how much time I can achieve.

Funny I popped on here to hear a good lead. This was the first one that came up on my search and I just so happened to be at this very meeting in hilton head with a bunch of guys from Cincinnati on a golf trip and for the conference. Coincidence.... Not in my world. Very cool experience. Great lead

Alcohol is great at stopping ✋you from being awesome at everything 👏 it's no longer a craving because it's poison, if you look at it that way, way easier to quit with certainty, thanks, self be true!

brian stout , Dont be harsh on yourself. Best thing is to in my opinion, is not to isolate. If you can listen to these people who share with their experiences..much better than listening at an AA meeting. Only depressed me. I am 9 yrs sober. Blessings to you~😊

the cups are familiar. it makes sense to stick to it. for me it helped drown out my feelings and finally feel ok. but at a point it stopped working but I kept trying. I just had to give up, and I don't mean suicide, though that definitely came to mind. I wish you a safe journey

Doug, I heard you speak at the Fall Classic in St. Louis. To put a face to the speaker it was really cool. I did think OMG a movie star , to funny. When “Life on Life’s Terms” is really a drag, I want you to know your recordings can - as my sponsor said, “a chuckle a day is required” good job-thank you. You know I always tell my Sponsee’s to listen to your tape, or I’ll just tell them verbatim...

If you can stay clean without a spiritual awakening from doing the steps then you are not a real addict and detox is about as hard as it's going as it's going to be.. If this is your truth.... you need to please the be aware of what you are saying about it. Especially to the newcomer; as people are killing others; who are real addicts ; with there watered down opinions of the programme.

According to the University, the difference between an alcoholic and a social drinker is physiological. Alcoholics are alcoholic because of the way the liver metabolizes the breakdown of acetaldehyde into acetate by alcoholics. The breakdown is performed at half the rate in alcoholics as that of non-alcoholics. The brain amines build up while acetaldehyde builds up at the same time. Acetaldehyde preoccupies their enzyme, interacts with acetaldehyde to form compounds called isoquinolines. Isoquinolines may act on the opiate receptors in the brain , thus contributing to the addiction of to alcohol.
