Wow! I remember Doug being a funny up and coming comic at the time. He seemed to disappear for a while so it was really good to hear that he didn't disappear but got stronger from the experience. Much respect to him.

I’ve always said, Doug should have used that spotlight to excel. He was trending and everyone was waiting on a response and Doug was a no-show. He should have had a Comedy Central special titled, “You see what had happen was...” He could have made fun of himself and really turned that minor L into a major W. Joke about the roast then move on to your bid. Instead he just accepted his major L. Obviously he’s a very funny and talented comedian, if that wasn’t the case, he wouldn’t have been on there to begin with. Just my two cents :-) All the best Doug! “What’s up! What’s up! What’s up!! You can tell he has PTSD from that moment and I can't really blame him.

That moment haunts him to this day still. In all actuality, he kind of started that situation, talking about how jamie was in bad movies.

Jamie got in his feelings when doug said all his movie's were flops. Sure it was a roast but it got personal when doug mentioned the movies.

I got sympathy for son. That's a hard situation to be in. It's like getting picked on by the most popular kid in school in front of the whole school which is 10x worse than if it was a regular student.

You wanna know what's really interesting? I looked him up on IMDB and found that he had been in 4 movies and 9 episodes of a TV series before the roast incident. It seems he was doing more than just standing. Since the incident, he's been in 6 theatrical movies, 2 TV movies, 2 TV series (1 episode each) and he has 2 producer credits.

This was a professional hit job... the dead giveaway was the fake handshake Jamie gave him when Doug took the stage. And look at how Shaq was looking over at Jamie when Doug got up there. And the icing on the cake was Jamie was his gatekeeper and Doug didn't know it. When Jamie said "You'll never get a deal" he was serious.

I’m glad Doug is strong enough to talk about this now and looking at the comments there’s lots of people who don’t realize that Doug was a really good up and coming comedian at that time. I don’t think anybody would have been able to come back from that had it happened to them no matter who it was because it was humiliating and although it was funny we as Black people at some point have to stop being so vicious towards people to the point where they may possibly get depressed or commit suicide or even get embarrassed in front of their family. What Jamie did to Doug was equivalent to the Rock sitting ringside watching another up and coming wrestler wrestle and as soon as the match begins The Rock jumps in the ring and starts unexpectedly body slamming the up and coming wrestler without warning. Even though the wrestler is skilled and should be prepared to fight anybody, he could never fully be prepared by a sneak attack from another wrestler and a great wrestler at that. And then to top it off Jamie never came back and showed love for Doug in front of the people , it was like some bully shit. So even though it was funny it was some hoe ass shit on Jamie’s part. I really hope to see Doug rejuvenate his career at this point because he was one of my favorite comedians on comic view back in the days

Jamie was right though… and he said that he’s not a bragger however he really downed Jamie by saying “thank God you got in Ali, cause you had a slow start” and Jamie basically humbled him and reminded him that he is at a slow start and can make him go even slower… dude was too cocky at the time…but he has grown and I hope all is well

He was in a tough spot because it's hard to know how to feel during that. It's not like someone starts talking smack when you're in a parking lot or on line at the store. It's stand-up comedy and it's also a roast. So other than knowing someone is giving you the business and not really liking it, it's hard for an unseasoned comic to know how to feel and react in that context.

As a comedian you have to go through it. Jamie did that same thing to Kevin Hart. Kevin kept working, got his jokes up and went on Jamie own radio show and roasted the hell out of Jamie and his co host. From then I’ve never seen Jamie go at Kevin publicly again that’s how u gotta do it .

If that had happen to me not only would’ve responded with the LL line but i would devoted the rest of my time on the mic going at Jamie with straight up facts and personal roasts 🤷🏽‍♂️💯
