@spencerjohnson7185 a given set of values can work great in one culture or context and terribly in another. There are important lessons to be learnt from every culture and value system. This could only be the case if such things matter. But the very fact that they do matter is the reason why supplanting millions of people from one culture into another and expecting things to be OK is such a terrible idea. Too many people these days like to be seen as 'celebrating' multiculturalism while claiming that it makes no difference.

Personally I'm amazed that Mexico is able to cope in any way at all with the level of population growth it has experienced in recent decades. Canada, on the other hand, has a much smaller population and so a sudden growth of 7 million would be even less supportable for them than for the USA. My point aligns with Douglas Murray's and it is that the problem of migration is an extraordinarily complex and urgent one. To suggest anything otherwise, and in particular to play down its magnitude, is singularly unhelpful to all concerned.

Right off the bat MLH is wrong. The meaning of 'Citizen" and to whom it is awarded, and its benefits and obligations, are determined by the State in question. A panel has no say. There is no obligation for a country to accept a refugee, just like it is not a duty for every family to adopt three kids.

Omg that lady was so rude .... unfortunately its the same in Aust we have lost a lot of traditions. As a teacher we stopped things like the Easter bunny parade, making Christmas cards and singing the songs associated with these celebrations. Carols are no longer played in shops, no carollers in the large department stores or in the street .... and the list goes on. The fear is offending the large numbers of Muslims, Chinese and Indians .... surely they knew they were coming to a Christian country and their sense of entitlement just grates.
