From Sweden here. I've been discussion and pointing out corruption in the UN and instituitions like WHO for years here. Most of my family adhere to the socialdemocratic left here. It's like they can't really fathom that a big institution created as some sort of democratic forum can become corrupt.

The UN and its subsidiaries both direct and indirect is one thing - they are funded by Governments - but there are many many charities that are funded by the public and regularly advertise for donations which are either dubious corrupt entities such as Oxfam or who are less than transparent about how they spend the money they raise such as RNLI that spend vast sums of money helping illegal immigrants cross the English Channel safely - Charities are not adequately regulated and until they are they will not get another penny from me

All of humanity must get over this idea we can create these "global" institutions funded by tax money and layers of government bureaucracy and it will work well. When there is that much money flowing and it's that far removed from the ones providing it, it is very vulnerable and tempting for abuse.

So 12k unrwa employees taken mostly from people of Gaza and after what was probably a big effort Israeli intelligence links 12 of them to the attacks of 7 Oct. That’s not really a surprise. UN agencies often have to make unpleasant compromises with regimes to carry out their work. But unrwa also acts as an inconvenient witness and recorder of Israeli actions in Gaza, so best to discredit them now with the willing social media acolytes. Otherwise in due course they could come up with a real death toll for Israeli actions in Gaza that couldn’t be dismissed as well that’s just the Hamas figure….and so a pattern emerges, demonise the Gaza’s as subhuman, undermine international agencies, convince anyone watching that an idea can be destroyed by brute force. No, I stand against this.
