Don't ever think of someone's perception of who you are. You are you, and your choices are yours, for your own very reasons. We like Dougo & Amy for who they are.
I bought my first Cadillac at 38 and never looked back. Now at 77, I still drive a Caddy. It is a 98 Deville and runs like a top. I never bought New. I let someone else take the depreciation hit. Don't worry what other people think... Its your life. You should enjoy it as you wish. Russ
GM doesn’t want Cadillac or Buick to be associated with certain aged buyers but it’s the reality the median age for both is higher than they would like.
@@amysblessings Now back to Bull bars and another comment I wrote. They are much the same as the large frames and bumper bars that are already on the front of the Larson Farms semi-trucks. However they are made for pickup trucks. So if a bull or deer hits. The vehicle does not come off second best. They most certainly are available for RAM trucks
When you want it. You have worked very, very hard. You are almost at the age, where you should stop worrying so much about what they think, and worry about your personal happiness. I personally wish you both , all the happiness in the world. Of course you should pray on it. But God wants you to be blessed. Because you feed the world!
YOU need a roo-bar on your Pickup Dougo ,........ like what you call a brush guard !!...IN OZ we all have roo bars for kangaroos !!! ...love you videos , thanks to you and Amy and family !!!
I wondered the same thing when I bought a Lincoln when I was 80. I did get the questions and my answer was "I wanted it and could afford it so why not."
I do enjoy all the Larson videos - Farm & Amy. Just don’t forget to be grateful that no one was/has been injured in your encounters with deer and in your work on the farm. 🙏
I worked in a family GM dealership. I own an Escalade and I love it. Never been in for warranty repairs. I plan to buy another one. If you want one, don’t worry about what other people think. Enjoy life.
Doug buy a ranch hand bumper for your next truck, when the deer runs out don’t let off or brake. Good thing it wasn’t the Cadillacs you would be sick! The look Doug had when he didn’t have his seat belt on was priceless!!!
We just purchased a very nice 2017 Chevy truck. Beautiful truck we both like to drive. It was well taken care of and is comfortable. My wife is in her 60s and i in my 70s. Never would have considered a Cadillac. Too much stuff to go wrong.
You will enjoy a Cadillac for sure. Some family members enjoy driving them. Make sure you test drive the vehicle you like. You will know. Pray about it.
Oh but Amy, the can "locate" another red caddie for you! Doug, you worry too much about what people think of you. The truth is, they're not thinking of you at all. Most people are too busy thinking of themselves. Enjoy your life, you have definitely earned it. And I for one enjoy the search for a new truck and a new car for Amy.
You're old enough, Dad was in his 60's and he came by my work and showed it off. Told him he was spending my inheritance so 2 years later he bought another one.
You must not run your air conditioning like I do in the truck. No flies with me in the truck. That hairy Belgian Sheperd is even comfortable in my truck. Yes, I keep it quite cold in the truck. Yippee tie ayah. Dugo that is a very positive statement, "I do not have to fix it." Brilliant, and I totally agree.
Don,t buy a mid size SUV. My wife thought she wanted a smaller SUV, I could hardly get in the dam thing without bending my neck sideways. Ended up trading for a full size! We all will be in a box soon enough with no head or elbow room . So we might as well travel in comfort while we’re still living!😂😂😂🚗🚘🚘
Take one in and get them ordering the parts. The next day, take the other one in and get them ordering the parts. You don't have to fix both at the same time but when you have the time to take the second vehicle in, they already have the parts
Amy, here's a major shock for you. I spent 20 yrs in a semi driving cross country. In all that time I never hit 1 dear, but I did hit 3 big dogs that damaged the front bumper of the semi. 2 of the dogs was at the same time over in Illinois. Had just picked up a brand new semi. And I hadn't put a 1000 mile on it and it already needed a new bumper. The first dog I hit was down in the Caroline's. Was on a back road going back to the interstate from doing a deliver to a tiny town. But in my personal vehicles, I've yet to hit a deer. Best of luck on getting the repairs done. I'm sure there'll be a shortage on parts. Awesome video. 🫶🫶🫶
Never to young or to old to buy a caddy. My mom at 85 said she needed to upgrade her car and told my brother that she always wanted a caddy. So she bought a 2015 black caddy.
Deer 🦌 are thick in rural Arkansas for sure. I live at the very end of a dead end road in the woods. Like Doug said, they're unpredictable. If you're driving at night you will see them in groups of around a dozen. Sometimes they stand still, move along side, jump in front, hit you in the side, you never know. There's one doe that will stand in the middle of the road and just look at you. Then it's a waiting game. I stop and wait to see where she's going to go, and I keep some distance as I know she might just jump on the car. I should drive my old 2002 Silverado when I know I'm going to be on the road after dark. On the Cadillac question, you're definitely old enough to have one and not get funny looks. I had a Cadillac in 1978, I was a teenager, but the car was a 1969 Sedan Deville. Beautiful car, wish I could find another just like it and buy it from the original owner. That'll never happen. It had many of the options that weren't common back then, everything was power, steering, brakes, windows, automatic dimming headlights, power seats, cruise control, climate control, I'm sure there was more, but it was a long time ago. Probably the best thing about it was the 472 cubic inch engine that made 375 horses and the turbo 400 transmission. It was fast. There wasn't much for kids to do around here back then, so drag racing was lots of fun. My old Cadillac won a lot of races. 😊
You would look good in a Cadillac! The roads that would support Super Cruise is as rare as hens teeth in Rural Minnesota but it would be pretty neat for longer trips on the interstate.
Thanks to both of you for another wonderful video produced by Amy and Dougo. It was great to watch and the subjects were most interesting. First. The Cadillac. Totally agree with you both. Nice car but it got sold so that is the end of that. Keep your eyes out for another one some time. As far as Cadillac goes, you both deserve a nice car whether it be a Cadillac or ford or Chevy is not the point. Drive a Cadillac if you do choose. End of that. Sorry it got sold on you. Second. Deer on the road in October. Yes that is a problem. Be as careful as possible but can happen real easy. Fix your vehicle up and drive it and wait for the next deer. 🦌. Oh my. That is life. If you have a lot of damage then trade it off. Yeah!!!!!! Third. Life in general. Busy time Of the year with harvest at the farm. Oh my. Maybe just take each day as it comes and forget all the other. Get harvest season over with and then do the fun stuff like fixing cars and looking for cars. You both take care of yourself and ENJOY each day as it comes!!!!!!! My blessings to you both. Have some great days of JOY!!!!! The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
I am SO thankful you commented. What a joy to meet you and visit and hear about your family and the Healing Hand upon your life. I visited with Chet later today and told him that it is because of his channel I got to meet Loren today and hear about his miracle! Chet just said, “wow!” You are a blessing. Thank you 😊
Your new Cadillac wasn't meant to be. You'll find something even better. Keep looking! Dougo, i always LOL, literally when you're telling tales. Thanks for another interesting video. Hope Chet is doing okay.😊
Some trucks overheat with a plow blocking the radiator on warmer days. So perhaps find a big ranch hand front bumper / grille guard with brush and animal protection. 😆
As for the Combine drama. In waiting for that to debut on the 'big screen' . In having seen the photographs on other social media. That story is going to be "explosive".
If I was you Dougo I’d get one of those heavy duty bumpers with bull gard it would replace your plastic crap and it would look tuff on your truck. Amy you did a good job of trying to avoid it I’ve hit two at hiway speeds and totaled my cars.
That could be the air conditioner cooler. It could also be the radiator for the transmission? Just be glad the airbags did not go off that would really mess your day up!
I’m 74 now, a native southern Minnesotan, after school , a 20YR career in the Marines. As a kid, my father owned a small farm 240 acres and a trucking business 3 tractors, 5 trailers. + 5 straight trucks. Annually we experienced 7-10 deer strikes. In the late 50’s dad and I were in a truck stop in shokopee (cargill grain river elevator) and a clerk was putting out on display these little black “deer whistles”. U know ..silent like a dog whistle….then they were 2 for a dollar, dad mentioned what can we loose but $10.bucks! 5 packs later on 5 different trucks, we went to 2-3 deer strikes a year. My dad passed, and we sold the trucks and our farm , but still run deer whistles on ALL the families vehicles. I’m a pilot car @100k annually driving our country and NO DEERE STRIKES for anyone! Poo poo the idea if U like, but for $5. Bucks a pack, it’s some peace of mind! NOTHINGS A GUARANTEE, make sure it has a clean flow of air, in ur grill, on ur bumper! BUT CLEAN FLOW! U won’t hear it, it’s similar to a silent dog whistle! Just a thought from a retired MINNESOTA MARINE! Loyal watcher of all three of U! Semper Fidelis. Y’all have a GREAT OPERATION. One summer I’d love the opportunity to meet and greet with y’all! TITAN OUT.😅
… The lovely and gracious Mrs. TE Vogel had a bank courier business and had a dozen vans running around Iowa twice a day doing Bank deliveries back in the old days… We hit more deer than you’ve had sweatshirts…
Fix the damage that’s why you have insurance I know it hurts I just got mine back but it’s nice for now! Be thankful for Gods protection and know life goes on and he died for us all! 20:09 p
In Minnesota it is a no-fault state insurance does not pay for nothing. You can drive head on into someone deliberately and because it's a no-fault state they pretty much walk away with nothing for nothing but their own vehicle. In Minnesota a lot of people do not have insurance. I live 20 years in Minnesota so I know what I'm talking about
Sorry to hear about not getting the Cadillac. Have you ever considered a Buick Enclave? The Avenir package is really nice. Good luck with you vehicle shopping.
Any age Dougo. Around here, when flies bite, it means it's going to rain. The thing about insurance, you can get let your vehicle get totaled and you still technically don't have to fix it. Today's vehicles are designed to be totaled out instead of repaired... too much plastic. Now, back in the 80's when they used to sell the deer whistles, those actually worked to help keep the deer away, today, not so much. Now, Amy, get them boys to wash your vehicle... seems like they enjoy washing things. Around my area, in the "high deer density" spots, we've learned to toot the horn while driving through, helps to deter them. Cheers :)
Really Surprised your air bag did not go off on Amy's vehicle !! We picked up a Lexus RX-350 AWD cherry maroon ! WOW beautiful color and very nice vehicle ! They make a RX-450 AWD also ! Just an Idea for you both !! Don't say you only buy American made when 99% of everything made comes from other countries ! Even my Brand new John Deere 3039R deluxe cab with every option was assembled in Augusta, Georgia at the John Deere plant that by the way is right beside the Kubota assembly plant !! Most all the parts made everywhere else assembled here.
Headlights on cars have not kept up with the development that safety has. Like you we in Sweden have a long dark autumn and winter coming up, so extra lighting is needed. At least four extra lights two pointing forward and two at an angle to the side
Hey Dougo and Amy I got my first Cadillac when I was 17 washing dishes at a Dinner for $1.65 a hour in 1968 pay $1,000 for it a 1963 deville best car I ever had. It had Over 300000. When i Trade it ...
I'll trade you for my Durango! Mine's 22 years old, half rusted away and has a cracked windshield - but it runs good and has a grille guard for all those deer! 😆
As for the road vehicles. It is time to invest in a Roo (Kangaroo) bar, or more a Bull Bar for the front of the car and pick up. They must have those in the USA.
sounds good. ARB Corporation Ltd is an Australian company, but just conveniently has offices in the USA. That Ram Ute (Utility Vehicle, Light Truck, Pick Up) is going to look great with a set of Bull Bars on the front bumper. It will solve all the deer (crash damage) issues in an instant. As well as making Dougo the pride of the County. You can also add a winch for pulling out a stuck Combine from a mud hole. Looking forward to if this suggestion is indeed taken up
Yes, I have a girlfriend that had the same thing happened because of a raccoon. The next time the radiator got damaged. It was from a deer and they totaled her car.
I guess the Cadillac was sold, sorry about the loss of Amy's new vehicle... All us "old people" take a while to decide, almost seventy myself. I never liked big vehicles do to the lack of road feel. I know about car damage, My brand new Honda Accord was backed up into within 24 hours of delivery.
Maybe its best you both get home before dark...Im a Metropolitan driver we have to watch every intersection we enter at times you feel like your in a bumper car game.
I once picked up a load of cattle in Texas and two flies got in the truck, when I got to Nebraska it was almost 12° I think they want it out of the truck real bad so I let them out.
Seems most get a higher end vehicle when the mortgage is paid off. Something they may have wanted but had other responsibilities. As for the trucks, maybe look into bull bars like they have for the semi trucks.
