I have a dove purchased at Arnold Pet Palace in 1988. 1988! He is over 30 years old. His name is Bob because he used to bob up and down I guess. He lives in a parakeet cage at night and when we are not home and is out most of the rest of the time. The only down side is the little gems he will leave us here and there. We keep them cleaned up right away if you are wondering. Most of his days he would only eat the white millet seeds. He would pick them out and leave all the rest. The last few years he has really been eating new to him things. He really likes Mixed Greens Treat, Fruits and Veggies Treat and of course his millet. He eats small birds type foods and ignores the rest. We mix grit in with everything, do not forget the grit because they swallow seeds whole. He now sleeps a lot, doesn't fly very well and is a little rough around the edges than he used to be. He is spoiled now maybe, but has been a good very old friend and I will miss him greatly. Who knows, he may be at my funeral.
I live in Southwestern Utah in an area that isn't overly developed. Behind my home is a large water catchment area. I have all kinds of wildlife including birds. I must have dozens of doves, both mourning and Eurasians come to my feeders. In the winter, it's so much fun to feed the finches and the Lesser Finches!
Whether dove female remarry? In my house there was a pair of dove. One day accidentally the Male hit by moving fan and dies. The female used to come continue till three days. @@maracachucho8701 my Tia rescue one as well from a hawk taking it up in the air and dropping it so it got pushed onto me and I read they don’t live long in the wild versus captivity cause of predators and I’ve grown attached to mine and I’m way too afraid to release it
My dove took a shit and has a butthole that is big and out and pulses like a chicken who lays eggs. She hasnt laid anything yet bc she is only a month old, but her butthole is very big and puffy and out. Is that a female dove? I tried the feel test on the pelvic bone and it feels like a boney point down its stomach until it gets to the tail
