This music is sublime and completely timeless. In fact, you'll probably hear it being played quietly in the background at the end of time, as they turn the lights out.

Sublime playing . First time hearing this wonderful quartet and cellist , surely they deserve a name check .

I have known this work for more than 60 years, and this performance ranks up there with some of the best. I have recordings from the Budapest quartet from as far back as the 1930's, and Russian quartets from before that; The Dover quartet is a worthy successor to the Guarneri.

I agree. For such young players they have remarkable subtlety

One reason they play so well together is that Matt and Milena have gone the lengths to have matching hairdos.

Wow, Absolutely stunning. I must say that the very first piece that I hear nearly brings a tear to my eye because I am thinking this music could be helping me to sleep if I listen to this music on my radio. Keep it up you fantastic players. I do also like that lovely lady in the red dress she is great too

WARNING: loud yells and shouts from (some people in) the audience directly after these fine musicians have played their last note (and are still "in" the music, as was I.)

aside from the great music by all i think Milena plays her part so well with the wild hair and flowing red dress and shoes- Schubert would be proud to see his work so beautifully performed

Very good performance. DSQ + cello guest have kept Schubert's spirit, mood and silences. Schubert's pizzicatoes mean for this quintet its unifiying thread such as heart beats pump blood to living beings. As for the rest of the movements ... ??

I love the performance, but the camera work was very frustrating. I wished to see more of the whole group, to see how they interacted with each other. To many random bows on strings.

Well, that was truly stunning; beyond words. Bravo to all! Just one question; what are the little black electronic thingees at the feet of the first violinist and the viola player?

Thank you for the enlightening response! I am way too old to read music from an Ipad; I would probably have difficulty finding the page turner with my foot. Interestingly, I previously thought that the viola player was squinting a bit--whatever. Anyway, a truly first rate performance!

Hi Matt, did you ever thought using the thumb for pizzicato ? It would sound much better ! (yes, i play cello as you) Please, do not not missunterstand: this performance is nearly perfect, but the performance from Zagreb, recorded in 2008 touches me more.
