status quo, piledriver, one of the great albums of the 70s imo.

From piledriver, hello, quo, on the level, blue for you. and quo live. fantastic albums that had no outside influence and no commercial manipulation. unforgettable albums and songs. compared to the so-called rock bands of today, which is just diluted rubbish.

I'll be 57 in April and sad as I am to say, I never knew a thing about Quo except for matchstick men, up until about a month ago. Sorta stumbled on to em by accident, here on RU-vid. I'm still trawling through their discography but I've gotta say that these guys mastered that boogie riff. Rick Parfitt was a beast (no disrespect to Francis, Alan and John). So far, Down Down, Roll Over Lay Down, 4500 Times, In My Chair, Whatever You Want and Mystery Song are taking up a boatload of my RU-vid viewing time . Great rendition, dude 😎

You must be American! I always find it fantastic that over there they're one-hit wonders (currently residing in our 'where are they now?' file... 😂 ), whereas in the UK and other parts of Europe they were hardly out of the charts for most of the 70s and some of the 80s. In fact, I think they hold the record for appearances on Top of the Pops (Britain's biggest music TV show for more than 30 years).

Yo JJ, I'm so sorry to hear of what transpired over on the 'PT' side of things, but I want you to know that whenever I'm trying to figure out a tune I ALWAYS look for your take FIRST. It's been a long time since I had the compunction to even want to pick up a guitar due to an incurable bone disease (called AVN for short) and the deaths of both my parents and brother just recently. It's ONLY because of YOUR style, and all the other attributes that you bring to a 'Guit-Fiddle' that I've found my love of music all over again so I'm grateful that you did NOT 'throw-in-the-towel', but have left up the old stuff too. PLEASE, even IF you need to disable all the comments back on the 'PT' side, PLEASE leave it up. I'm NOT 'BS'ing here, I can only get about two hours worth of playing in a day and it's taken the last three years (I'm 52) to get back all the equipment let alone the ability to keep time but I'm only getting better because of YOUR channel(s), I DO appreciate you and yours, God Bless and keep the Faith, sincerely ~Mark~

wow! Nice one James. You not only got the tune bang on, but the "feel" of it too. It's pretty obvious you play that from your soul man. So many times I hear the "Quo are 3 chords" chestnut from other players( I am a player of approx 40yrs), but when I challenge them to play it themselves .... well, they can't . There's a reason Quo were often asked to open for other bands, and anyone listening to you play would understand the fun of it. I salute you Sir. Good Form.

Got to ask what kind of guitar are you using in this video? And what kind of capo did you get, I need a couple good ones. Great playing and great band for sure, saw them live on my quello music program and they were awesome.

BTW Another guitarist I spoke to tunes his E up to G on this track.

Wow, that would stress the neck a lot!
@jjjddd231
@jjjddd231 Год назад
Rick Parfitt tunes the low E up to a G - and uses that tuning for Rain and Mystery Song in addition to Down Down. Don't worry about the neck, it's wood and it can take it.
