I think this is one of the best looking aftermarket seat set ups currently available for the Triumph Street Twin. Down & Out Motorcycles are well known for their recent custom Triumphs, and this kit gives you the look WITHOUT having to cut the frame and weld a loop in. It's pretty easy to fit at home and is completely reversible. Of course the guys and Down & Out will happily do the work for you if you wish.
The seat & rack section can of course be fitted with a standard fender. You will still need to remove the seat release latch, and then source the correct length bolts to fix into the stock fender mounts (the last two bolts i fix in the video).

Hi Tony, thanks for all the great videos you make, so useful! I can't stop watching them... I'm considering to get the D&O short mudguard kit as it looks very neat. But do you know if it would fit properly with the Triumph bench seat? I'm afraid the Bates light would be too close to the seat... or even be in contact with it. Thanks and keep up the good work! I don't think the bench seat would stick out any further than the rack part. One solution would be the Motone Bobbed fender, which comes blank so you can drill and fit the light wherever it's needed. A clear and comprehensive how-to. Nice work. It's a good looking arrangement but it does expose those butt ugly stitch welds on the frame above the shock mount. Would be far more attractive if the seat sides could cover them up.

It does look good, Tony, but I find the rear seat on my bikes useful to attach a small Ventura rear seat bag to.

The harness my bag fastens to can't be stolen when it's under the seat. If I had it wrapped round a rack, it could be.

Captive nuts on the brackets would help with assembly we don't do octopus arms well ha.

Hi I fitted the seat and rack, looks great but my bike lives outside and I use it to commute every day and the big problem is it soaks up water through the stitching every time it rains. I then get a very wet backside. Is this normal, for all seats with stitching ? is there a solution to stop the rain getting through? Look forward to some advice, thank you, B B

Sadly its an issue with any stitched seat, perhaps there is something you could apply to the stitching. Alternatively, knock up a waterproof cover. I used to use an elasticated rucksack cover if I knew I was going to have to leave it out in the rain.

Hi Tony, your videos have me fit quite a few parts to my T100 so far, so thanks a lot. Really considering this seat, but it would need to work with a few other parts I know you’ve used in the past -Motone tail tidy and SW Motech SLC side carriers. Do you think they will all play nice? Hi John, glad to be of assistance. The seat should work with the motech rack, but not the tail tidy. The d&o seat is designed to work with the short mudguard as I fitted in the video. I’ll have a think, but from memory those two bits aren’t going to work.

Shame, I’ve only just fitted that tail tidy too and I like it. I remember from your video there were two spacer nuts that were only for a T120 to allow the stock oem seat to fit. Well I didn’t use the nuts and that seat doesn’t fit! Tail light too close. Can you you remember where those spacers were meant to go? Would look odd between the light and the plate. (Nb, I’ve also using a rocker seat similar to the JP vintage one you had, and this one fits fine).

I love your videos dude, really informative, you've helped me tweak my Bonnie, and for that I thank you. I have a question or two regarding that shorty mudguard, as I'm going to be buying one from D&O for my T100 Black. Q: If I went ahead and got the whole shebang, including the Motone shock brackets & Billet indicators, would a new wiring loom be required? Also, does the same apply for the front indicators? I just wish to know whether I can just purchase these items and fit them straight out of the box. Thanks for the help bud.

Thanks! You could use the existing rear light loom, but for the cost of a new plug & play one I don't think its worth cutting and spllicing the original. Motone also offer a solution for the front indicators. One thing to remember about this seat is that it is bolted down, so if you want access its not as easy as stock.

Hi Tony, would you be kind enough to give me a short instruction sheet on how to fit the yellow film to your head light. I think you said fit it inside the glass. I don’t have a heat gun but have got access to a hair dryer( the missus won’t mind) any little tips would be really appreciated. Loving the look of your bike. Cheers👍🏻🏍

Hi Mike, Its pretty simple. I used a self adhesive window tint that is applied to the outside of the glass. A hairdryer would be perfect, just warming it a little adds flexibility and helps avoid air bubbles. Its just like applying a big sticker!

Having just grown a decent beard I even found the beard oil film very useful. My Triumph dealer is Lings of Bonneville corner Bixley drive and I live half a mile away. Apparently the guys there watch your vids and told me you came in the branch(why wouldn’t you. Lol😂) cheers.

Looks f'in awesome mate, if a bit fiddly to get under your seat, but it does look really good! Didn't realise we don't need number plate lights to pass an MOT, is that just motorcycles or does it apply to cars too?

Thanks Ben. Only motorcycles, there's nothing in the VOSA guidelines referring to a number plate light at all. The bike must however have a red rear reflector

It needs to be fitted as a complete set, as the seat bolts to the fender, which is why I stopped using it. It turned out to be a pain if I wanted to remove the seat. You may be able to get it to work, but I can’t remember to be honest if the mounting bolts are compatible with the stock positions?

Have you tried this with a pillion? Or; do you know if this is much longer than the original street scrambler solo seat? I'm looking for a shorter than full size seat for my '18 street scrambler that will be ok for my wife to go on occasional trips. We aren't particularly big any of us. Both of us do fit on the original solo seat, but not very comfortable for me. I've neen looking at the BAAK mini seat and now also this one from D&O.

I didn’t try it with a pillion sadly, but it is a little longer than the stock SS seat, not by much though. If you email D&O I’m sure they will give you the dimensions

Hi Amy, From memory the way they bolt together I think it would be very unlikely that they would work together. It might be possible with some modification?

Hi Tony, Im about to fit the DnO seat and rack with shorty rear mud. I have a 2008 T100 ie. The wiring is slightly different to the one in your video. Do you do a loom that works for my bike?

Hello Tony! I want to install the motone top shock mounts just like you did on this video, but the thing is that I only have a side stand. Will I be able to do that? I noticed that the rear of your bike slightly dropped when you removed the shock. Was it on the side stand or a centre one?

Hi. Yes you’ll be able to fit them on a side stand. My bike was being held on the ramp with a front wheel clamp and a small scissor jack underneath to take a little of the weight. If you remove one shock at a time it’ll be fine. You’ll get a very small mount of compression as the rear is only supported by one shock, but you can just pull the bike up on the frame to pop the shock back in.

Hi Drew, the D&O seat is comfortable due to its shape, but I have to say 'for me' the BC seat is more comfortable due its increased height and more padding.

Denis Rousseau Great question Dennis, the rack itself doesn't have a weight capacity rating, but it is made of stainless steel bar and it bolted to the base plate which in turn is bolted to the frame. I've actually had someone sit on the back of it (not whilst riding!) and there was no problem....
