big thanks for this. John Lee and Blind Willie Johnson are my two favorite country blues singers, although some might say Willie was a religious singer, not a blues singer. Was lucky enough to meet John Lee here in NYC many years ago in little ramshackle hotel. Yes, even though he was famous by then he was still being put up in a little dump hotel with community bathrooms in the hallways. BTW hope anyone reading this has seen the film The Soul of a Man. It follows three singers, Blind Willie, Skip James and JB Lenoir and it is TERRIFIC. See it on RU-vid
