The chest shield, as you know, was worn with a chain around the neck. Because of this chain, the german soldiers (Deutscher Landser, the german name for the american Doughtboy or GI) nameed them “Kettenhund”, which means watchdog or chain dog. An old Landser told me once that if they got you it was very hard to get out of their claws.

Really I joked the video and education. The ss daggers and the left dagger were over the top nice. Thanks for posting I enjoy ever minute of these videos

Thanks for the video and happy new year 🎊 last one you unpack is pretty rare it is a German ww2 wall lamp for damping the light so it only shine light on where you use it,you can adjust the light on it…there’s use it so the bomber planes will not see the light….hope that help you…..

First of all, thank you for all the videos and your effort and contributions to the Militaria collecting scene. But I would appreciate a more critical review of some items. Too quickly items are being declared as original, period and good. At 26:45 for example. This is a rather questionable inscription on the SA dagger. The group stamp on the crossguard looks like Wf for Westfalen. The SA Standarte 120 was located in Ulm, which belonged to the SA group Südwest. How can that be? That doesn’t match. The SA men had to purchase their daggers, thus each SA dagger was owned by the SA man, not the unit he belonged to. So there was no return of the dagger to the family when he was killed in action. And the old myth about the broken tip. There is no period evidence that the tip of a SA dagger was broken off, when its owner died or was killed in action. So counting 1 and 1 together. There is at least the possibility, that someone (without knowledge of the SA organization) upgraded a damaged dagger with a broken tip by engraving the blade. Wrapping a story around it with the SA man KIA … serious collectors know what I mean. And the copper scabbards I’ve seen on SA daggers had all a darker reddish hue, not a light golden. This scabbard looks more like brass than copper. But … suum cuique!

Like watching your videos it makes me want to start my own German world war II collection

52:53 is most likely an artillery range finder. I don't think the common soldier would have this. This must be something the lead artillery commander had to find his cordaninces.

That light seems to me was mounted at the front of the German army vehicles during the WWII, kind of night drive light...

They were hated by the regular troops. "Ketten Hunde".

That instrument almost looks like it could be an early range finder.

While I love these videos is it just me who thinks it’s a bit careless when he smokes right above the items like the helmet with hot ash dropping on it plus also making the items not come from a smoke free home while it absorbs into the fabric of say the hat next to him , not hating just think it is a little careless
