You are the queen of real talk! That homework/bed analogy really hits in a way I wasn't expecting. It's crazy how associating things can really mess with how you view something. There are certain parts of video game songs that remind me of myself (or my brand, whatever that is) and it just weirds me out. It's always so hard to know what the right thing is to do when it comes to banning on Twitch. I've had to ban somebody who donated like $2k in bits and gift subs because they thought they deserved special treatment for that. I've also banned for excessive bathroom humor, which kinda sounds hypocritical but I guess even I have my limits! The harder ones to figure out what to do are people who are just sort of generally annoying, but not out of any intended harm. Like I have one person who, in the last 3 months has asked me 5 times if I've seen the movie "The Crow" and 4 times if I liked Linkin Park. And I've lost count of how many times they've asked me about the WWE. It's like a bingo card with 3 squares that gets filled out every other week. But I don't think they mean any real harm by it, so it's like I don't know. I'm also mindful of the possibility that it might be irritating to other chatters, and for all I know, it's a troll who's trying to deliberately drive everybody else away because they "know" I won't do anything about it. I might have to step up, I don't know. But people say it's an easy job, it really isn't.

I recently saw somebody that quit twitch because they were showered in donations and gift subs from one individual and it led to a parasocial relationship that made them feel unsafe and leaving was the best choice. I also think it’s okay to have your own limits! Sometimes people take an inch and run with a mile which is too much. I have toned down certain aspects of my humor bc I don’t want people to get overboard and cross lines with me. And yeah for people who are generally annoying it really depends on if they are being rude or not. Someone left my community because I enforced my rules of no backseating too much and they used three vent channels in other discords I was in to complain about me… two of my mods. But I think having a mod talk to someone individually about question asking or what not is okay rather than going for a ban. I’ve banned people for all types of reasons and I don’t regret it and find that putting it off hurt me more haha! Being online is difficult and people don’t realize it. You’re just exposed to all kinds of people and some make it really hard with how they act. Thank you for the thoughtful comment❤️
