The people of Charlotte call their downtown "Uptown ". So when you hear people referencing something like "I just came back from Uptown." or something that means they was in downtown. Beautiful city.
I'm from Charlotte born and raised 1981 and we always call it downtown. That uptown mess sound silly. City has changed alot. Gentrification bs included. All the history here is gone now. The great original restaurants gone. And our Charlotte hornets and Carolina Panthers has two of the worse owners. Streets look empty. Must have been on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Throughout the week the city in congested all over the place. Always been but alot more now. Empty in this video.
Well, gentrification is going to come whenever city grows at the rate that Charlotte has grown in the last 10 years or so, Charlotte is by far one of and at one point it was a fastest growing city in the United States. I read an article that at one point over 1000 new people per day had moved into Charlotte, there’s no way that you’re not gonna have gentrification at a rate like that. The other thing that’s happening is that Charlotte is trying to set itself up as the tech hub of the south, while Atlanta is still a bigger city, Charlotte per capita has more tech jobs, such as software, engineer, and data, analyst and cyber security than almost any other city in the United States, that also is going to add to gentrification. You can’t expect the city to grow and not expect gentrification at some level, that just isn’t gonna happen. I lived in Charlotte for quite a while, and then I moved to Chicago, and as much as I love the city, I’m probably going to move back to Charlotte, because it really is a great city.
Might as well come on up to Winston Salem where i live . Lot of history here and Maberry/ Mount Airy Nc is close where the Andy Griffith show was based on
@@broskibear9666 Charlotte is one of the U.S. largest financial and business cities, one of the largest airports in U.S, one of the largest commercial cities in the South, home to many pro sports teams and automotive racing, home to numerous national and international offices, one of the largest tourist attractions in the South and home to a million people. And it is a wonderful place to live, but it's EXPENSIVE so bring your wallet, We love money. Cheers.
Ultra modern downtown but it's sad how the city of Charlotte has continuously erased so much of it's history, to an almost uneque extent among large US cities.
@@roundfaceal9164 you mean you couldn't care less? If so you are not uneque and such a lack of concern is hardly limmited to the young. But don't assume that 20 somethings necessarily don't care about American history or love old architecture, for there are actually a great many young people who do care and are interested in just those things.
@@jKLa I dont understand lack of concern? I see nothing wrong with innovation and a modern city. I find it much more engaging. Charlotte is not known for its rich American history anyways. I don't find old buildings which no significance to be very enjoyable.
@@roundfaceal9164 nothing wrong with new but many of Charlotte's old buildings WERE significant, including a historic Black owned blues club among many others. But yeah they are not well known today since the city got rid of them... New if everywhere. But I'ts just sad when a city doesn't do hardly anything to preserve the old and distinctive.
@@roundfaceal9164 Well I love old buildings if they were well built and beautiful. Of course many new buildings have always been crap. That was true 100 years ago though less so then today. But most of those crap buildings specifically are gone in the South (with significant exceptions in some towns) unlike in some pockets of the north. That is a good thing but the widespread destruction of old and lovely or distinctive building is unfortunate. Luckily in much of the South and unlike in Charlotte, a large number of these old more distinctive buildings are preserved, but compared to the North too many are still run down and too many have been lost already IMHO.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Charlotte is an older city, but surprisingly the crime rate there is lower than a lot of major cities. Still be on the lookout for crime
