Generally Parking is bad in Chicago, but there are some apts which will include with parking deal.. IMO its not worth it, I pay 200 bucks for my parking additionally and I have an option to buy it, but it cost additional HOA + taxes and yuck !! Avoid buying Parking, you dont need car anyways and in next 2 years I will be getting a house somewhere and I will be taking my car there !!

I bought my first one in 2021 and similar price range. I think you did some mistake there girl, if you would have opted for 10 years, Interest rate was 2.1, and my monthy payment is almost same as yours and ending 20 years earlier. Infact I am over paying so that I will be done in next 7 years.. Although my HOA is higher than yours, I think my location makes it worth it !
My recs include: - large bean bag - a paint station with canvas on the floor and/or surrounding walls - a whiteboard or chalkboard for writing down thoughts in mathematical language, and advancing the theory of everything - bookshelf/shelves - floor space devoted to yoga, calisthenics, etc. - one old wooden chair

I was thinking about getting ladder bookshelves for the work station area in the back and potentially a little old desk to put against the windows with a functioning typewriter - if I can't get that to work, I think replacing that idea with whiteboard on an easel or something like that would be really cool! Much cheaper! I pay about $1950 after mortgage, mortgage insurance, property tax, etc. and a portion of that goes towards paying down the house so it's almost like a savings account i.e. I'm not losing all of the $1950 as I would if I rented it.

Hi! Answers are below. 1. Super easy to get a mortgage - I had a good credit score (780+) and lots of savings! They just want to know that the mortgage would be less than 50% of your non-taxed monthly income and that you have enough money to pay for a downpayment. 2. I think I paid a completely fair price but think I could've gotten it for 220-225K instead of 235K, I just didn't know at the time (and had a kind of bad realtor). 3. No safety concerns, most of city living is just about being aware of your surroundings and not going out/walking too late. 4. Absolutely love it, I went to UChicago so I'm very familiar with Chicago/have friends here. 5. 1000sq ft!
