Thomas, the original film needs to be returned to Kendall County Historical Society, It was on loan only. Additionally, the year may be off only due to prohibition ending in 1933 and the film depicts a bar. The town hall was actually across the street on the southside of Van Emmon, per Sanborn maps at the time. The Fire Truck shown was actually in Bristol not Yorkville.
My family for 8 generations lived in Yorkville. The family homestead is still on Kennedy Rd. Built by Mr. Driscoll the same man that built the Kendall County courthouse. courthouse. Of course I lived off and on from 1951 to 1989.
I've lived in Yorkville from 2001 to 2009; then went in the military, then again from 2012 to present. Some bldgs I recognize and some look completely different... the angle maybe? I enjoy the town but politics of the State of Illinois is what drove me away in the first place.
