You're perfectly right with this watch, that has amazing and improved aestetics, but in my opinion, the only two readable ones are white and blue dial.
Hi Barry, I have to go with the majority opinion here: to me the design lacks cohesion, although parts of the watch are fine. The dive watch segment is really crowded though, with a lot of companies making really good examples which both look great and have excellent under water ability. So this Doxa isn't for me, I'm afraid. LG Bob 🍻
I really like the dial, bezel and colour way. I can’t get past the case shape and size though and I don’t personally like those beads of rice bracelets. Maybe on a bright yellow rubber strap instead, but the black looks way better than the bracelet. The wave pattern is perhaps a tad derivative? The hour hand looks really out of proportion. Why not have the both hands in proportion but the bright yellow on the minute hand? Some really nice touches, especially the crown and the case back. Very fair review as ever Barry.
You really should start measuring the bezel size. Meaning is it 39mm? Because that’s how it wears. It doesn’t wear like a 42mm when it’s a cushion case.
The bezel could be 10mm but that has no impact to how it wears on the wrist its the case which does and cushion cases always wear on bigger side due to there design Sir
That makes more sense, I always tell people that the lug to lug size is the most important, but when you think the Seiko SRPG59K1 Tuna which is 43mm has a L2L size of 44
Is the lume pip much weaker than the lume on the dial and hands? I’ve got a regular 300 and the lume pip simply doesn’t work. Looks good when you blast it with a uv light but under normal conditions you can’t see it at all.
Interesting and always good to heard from a long time owner , being a hardcore diver I'm surprised they don't find themselves some better longer lasting lume
@@ClickSpringReview Exactly. People over think all this. The Bulova Lunar Pilot is another one people get their knickers in a twist over. It's fine on a smaller wrist.
To be fair that has a big 52mm lug to lug I wouldn't recommend that to anyone with a small wrist myself , even my 44mm Sinn U2 only has a 50mm LTL size and my 48mm Seiko Tuna has 45mm
I always find the lacquered finish on the minute hand of doxa divers a bit funny. Don’t get me wrong, I like the colour, but it just seems a bit cheap for the price
Too many different things going on, starting with clashing sheens/finishes. And that ceramic bezel just doesn't look in sync with that brushed case with polished sides. The sum of this watch definitely doesn't look as good as individual parts.
I do like the ceramic bezel and if I'd reviewed the white dial on white silicone I think i'd really liked it but this one just falls short with the black hour hand and bracelet and clasp
Its a great looking watch but many people now call Doxa a Chinese brand as many of the parts are made there , But to be fairness there are many great watches coming out of china these days
I am currently looking for this case shape but don't want to follow everyone's advice ("get a turtle...King Turtle... Willard... SEIKO!!!!"). In my eyes, this watch has the shape and the thickness (11.95mm) going for it, but the overall design is something I need to get acquainted to a little more I'm afraid... What are those "spikes" on the bezel? If anyone can recommend a tonneau/cushion shaped dive watch that's under say 12.5mm thick, please let me know... The options are few these days.
The hour hand is terrible,especially that its so small compared to the minute hand,reminds Seesterns early version of Sub600T knockoff😜Overall I like only the blue version of this release and it only make sense with waves pattern.Though this release is nothing compared to limited blue mop,that one I would grab for sure.Btw it isnt white version,its silver,same as other Searamblers.
I didn't know Doxa call it silver even Francis & Gaye call it white. I own a cream dialled Breitling colt 41mm but turns out its also called silver on their website :) , maybe I'm colour blind Piotr 🤔😄
Doxa are now trying to sell to areas of the world that have more money than taste or sense. I'll stick with my 300T Pro. Doxa need to realise they are just a little microbrand with some past glories and not a big player. Zodiac are doing far better new lines than these. These are a design mess.
I tend to look at things a bit differently. Firstly I don’t think Doxa live off their past glories. They have a signature, unique look which they should continue to produce. Same as panerai/rolex so why should they be different? Reason I bought a Doxa 300 is solely the unique look and because they are unlike any other watch I own. They are also very well made and you can save a bit as there are regular sales. Whilst around £2k isn’t cheap it’s a fraction I’ve paid for some of my other watches. What half decent watch can you buy for £2k nowadays…A tag F1 quartz? Nope I would rather have a Doxa. A must for any collector.
.... just buy a Seestern version ...... way way cheaper and superb finish ... and before you say but it's a homage just remember Doxa stole the dial of this watch from Omega ........... what goes around comes around .......
Its just a copy , Don't get me wrong they maybe will made but they just copy other companies work. Shame they don't have any designs of own. There are some many great Micro Brands which have cool designs like Obris Morgan, Unimatic, Underd0g, RZE, DRAKEN, ZELOS now these are cool watches
No, no, no. Of.all the current models I only really like the Sub 300 Pro (Cosc), as it carries the original Doxa heritage best. All those new releases are abominations for me. One has to say Rick Marei's era of Doxa is their best save for the original ones.
I should of got the white looking one on the silicone, I'm sure that would of worked with the black hour hand , other than the fact I can't read the time I don't mind the watch :)
