Oyster's are arguably one of the best eating and most expensive seafood delicacies here along the Alabama Gulf Coast, and for good reason! In this video I take you along with me on an oystering trip and show you how these tasty boogers are caught and harvested. There is a lot of work that goes into catching oysters but so worth it when you get to bite in to one fresh off the grill or deep fried!

Sweet video Capt.! What temp is the water when you guys harvest them? Is there a general temp of the water when they are the best to harvest?
@CaptCollier
@CaptCollier 10 месяцев назад
Water temp at the time of that video was probably sitting around 67-68 degrees. The season is generally open from October through December. I’m sure it’s because the water temps are lower but I’m not sure why lol
@francisdeighan6040
@francisdeighan6040 10 месяцев назад
I always wondered how they were harvested, and that certainly make sense. Can't believe you don't like them salty boogers raw though.
@CaptCollier
@CaptCollier 10 месяцев назад
Yessir that’s one of the ways to catch them. Some people also grow them in cages and harvest them that way. This way is way more work but plentiful
@grancitodos7318
@grancitodos7318 10 месяцев назад
That is so much easier than chipping them off rocks, or crawly through the mangroves to lever them off the roots, and they are nice looking oysters.
@CaptCollier

I’m sure it is, that sounds like a lot of work as well.

So a question...I really don't know so I'd ask. If they take those oysters where do the new ones come from?
@CaptCollier
@CaptCollier 10 месяцев назад
They grow off all those rocks and stuff we were chipping off of them, that’s why it’s required to do that so they can “regrow” every year
