that question about wanting to be famous or not is simply unnecessary, and timothée's answer was actually way more interesting than just "really answering the question"... wth is wrong with this guy
I hate the way the interviewer made him feel bad about “not answering the question” @ 30:55 - a vapid question about being famous. It was disappointing to see. It makes us all want to protect this beautiful talented open sweet young man from the horrors of fame or make him feel bad about ANYTHING - EVER.
He will change. Taylor Swift tried hard not to change, but when you’re highly successful and still acting surprised about people loving you or winning awards, it makes you unlikeable. Unfortunately, he’s just going to have to accept his fame and not be amazed by it anymore.
I think it’s disrespectful to treat a guest as the interviewer has acted towards Timothee. Whether he liked him or not you’re interviewing someone for the ultimate goal of others listening so it’s unnecessary and inconsiderate to act like you are more intelligent than the person you’re asking questions to.
i think is disrespectful of you to write this when you didn't actually watch the interview and you just watch a 30 seconds clip of this with a false title.
And this is why parents should find a way to make their children be interested in books, literature and building something extra curricular. Persuade them learn at least a second language
dave_császár i can speak english fluently, a little german and a little filipino. I also find reading interesting. However, i hate audible because i hate listening to some people reading a book monotonously. That’s my opinion so.....
Timmy is so intellegent, humble and his energy and passion for his work is palpable. It’s contagious. He really has what it takes to make it all the way to the top in the industry. I’m looking forward to what roles he does in the future because no doubt he’s gonna be a huge star.
Muzika Queen, you're comparing apples to oranges. Love, Simon and Call Me By Your Name are very different films. One was marketed as a mainstream romantic comedy featuring gay characters, the other was marketed as an awards season art house drama featuring gay characters. They only have two things in common, they feature a character who is coming of age and they feature gay people. That's like comparing My Best Friend's Wedding to Titanic because they both feature white women falling in love. Two other notes. CMBYN was slowly rolled out into around 900 theaters at it's widest release. Love, Simon was released to 2,400 theaters at once. Again, this is because they are such different films. As for box office comparisons. It is not accurate to state that Love, Simon made "so much more money" than Call Me By Your Name. Love, Simon made $59 million worldwide on a budget of $17 million in 2,400 theaters. CMBYN made $41 million on a budget of $3.5 million 900 theaters. While both films are financially successful, any industry insider would tell you that CMBYN was more financially successful than Love, Simon. As for comparing Timothee Chalamet's acting to Nick Robinson's acting, that is a subjective and very difficult task. Call Me By Your Name demands far more of it's actors than a film like Love, Simon. I don't know that Nick Robinson has ever had a role with as much emotional range as Elio; the closest he would have come was playing Charlie in Being Charlie, but that role still required less range and the film received poor reviews. Maybe Nick Robinson could act circles around Timothee Chalamet, but the only way we'll know is if he is given a role that demands it. That's not a slam on Nick Robinson, that's true of every actor. Take Jesse Eisenberg, to pull an example out of thin air, back when he was starring in horror films like Cursed and TV-Movies like Lightning: Fire From The Sky, I doubt he was on anyone's radar to one day receive an Oscar nomination. It wasn't until The Social Network that he was given a role that allowed him that kind of opportunity. Sorry for the long reply, it just bugs me when people compare Love, Simon and CMBYN. They are two entirely different films, different genres, with different releases and different target audiences. The only thing they have in common is a gay lead. As a gay man, it feels insulting to imply being gay is so significant that any movie with a gay character is defined by that character's sexual orientation. Imagine comparing Freddy Got Fingered to Spotlight because they both deal with sexual assault. If that sounds ridiculous to you, and it should, then stop comparing Love, Simon to Call Me By Your Name. They are both good movies, but they just aren't comparable.
the interviewer when he was talking about if timmy wants to be famous kind of came off rude. like why would he make him feel anxious by saying u didn’t answer the question. like chill he answered it flawlessly...
THE timothee chalamet agreed to do an interview with them and the interviewer had the AUDACITY to say “well you didn’t answer the question bUt tHaTs oKaY”
Totally understand why Armie felt intimidated by his ability as an actor....or just as a person in general. Just listen to him talk! He's eloquent in ALL the interviews specific to CMBYN, but this interview gives us a glimpse of the breadth of his intelligence. He's phenomenal. I'd be intimidated too.
@thelonious maybe. But I was stupid when I was 21 by comparison. For one, he's much more mature than most 21-year-olds I know, that's including me. This is just one interview tho.
yeh your not wrong was surrounded by alot of precocious 22 year olds, myself NOT included so you know but hes certainly lived alot already and hes a good kid and actors have to kind of know themselves pretty well when just starting out or at least be highly perceptive, sometimes you have to live a few more years to get to where hes at sometimes you don't. Some people are really talented but they arent so good at empathy some high emotional intelligence but you know not very pragmatic we all develop in different areas at different times.
1. he said he’s not uncomfortable about being in the spotlight and that he wasn’t like attracted to being famous but he’s fine with it. so he did answer the question 2. WHAT EGO OMG 3. the interviewer was being incredibly rude and unprofessional
the interviewer was very rude about that last question. timothee made his answer very clear. he basically was saying that “fame” was never his ultimate goal but it was sort of something that just happened and that he would be selfish to not be appreciative of his recognition. the interviewer seemed like he wanted to try to get an egotistical response out of timothee which just isn’t like him.
I hope his career follows the same infrastructure as Jake Gyllenhaal or Leonardo DiCaprio. Two men who we all fawn and gawk over who could easily sell out or become jerks but instead mind their own business and dedicate themselves to creating a well rounded body of work with actual depth. Timothee seems so knowledgeable and in love with acting I can only see that for him as well.
exactly but i worry because of all the physical attention he gets it’s going to be hard to get a genuine girl who isn’t in it for the fame or his looks just like leo and end up being really old and haven’t married not saying there is anything wrong w marrying old it’s j that he might have aimed to marry like 27-35 years old and not at like 50
30:54 this interviewer is so rude. poor timothee, you could tell he wanted to say something but he couldn’t. i’ve never wanted to punch someone in the face more than this interviewer
He answered the question in a respectful and humble way. The interviewer was rude and disrespectful for prodding him for more, trying to twist his words.
I’m completely blown away by his acting, his performance was so honest and raw. It’s honestly the only film where I’m still thinking about it a week after seeing it, and I’m still a mess about it! I’m so excited to see what else he does, his career is going to be so interesting.
Cmbyn literally destroyed my soul the first time I saw it for a week. And continues to do so every time I watch it, which is often. So many beautiful life lessons that I'll carry and try to implement forever
Excuse my language, but holy freakin shit! Timothée Chalamet is such an old soul and his brain on movies is disturbingly interesting. To be his age and be that amazingly educated on films, plays, actors, directors, etc... I am so freakin impressed with him. He has definitely done his homework and then some. I don't think too many his age in the acting industry can even remotely compare notes... And for the fact that he is very humbled about his own career. I majorly respect that! I have watched a lot of his work over the past year. Call Me By Your Name, Miss Stevens, Lady Bird... This kid has it! And I see him going even higher than he already is now. He's going to blow up the big screens in his near future! His parents must be very proud of him! And rightfully so! He is already a force to be reckoned with!
His answers are so on point! I like when he was saying that getting famous or being famous is out of his control. He's just trying to do what he loves! I love his mentality so much
He's the most well informed and educated actor I've seen in a long time~ and educated in a way that words just flow out of his mouth freely, his posture is relaxed yet excited, his references are on-point.. no air of arrogance. and I should say this but he's not saying 'like... like... like..." and it's refreshing. I could rant on and on about how this interview was like VITAMIN.. it's amazing.
The way he portrays the emotions of his characters is so accurate but like in a subtle and heartfelt way. Not to mention his angelic and adorable personality and his gorgeous, gorgeous face. He’s compassionate and sensitive and his intelligence, knowledge and wisdom differs him from nearly every other human being his age. An actual angel
I don't know if you'll ever see this but Timothée, LISTEN. WE CARE FOR YOU. We want to know you, because you seem to be kind, generous, genuine, unique, cute, smart, ambitious, clever, hardworking (and I could say wayy more)😊 Just know that you have an amazing talent and thank god that your being recognized for that, like you have a hole fandom now and as for me, forever. I really hope to see more of your work, because for what i've seen (add list of your filmography) you truly deserve the Oscar. I mean I traveled 8 hours just to see CMBYN and another 8 to my house 🙃 when I sometimes i don't even wake up for school and I know plenty of other people who's done that too. If that doesn't show's you how much we care to see you, I don't know what will. Sincerely: Natali Baez 19 México 😂 😘 we love you boy 🤘✌️
His thoughts sometimes outpace his physical abilities to keep up with them. Consequently, he starts speaking a bit faster because so many ideas are coming to him at the same time.
His authenticity and understanding of self/searching for self is incredible. I totally agree that as a film actor the camera finds out who you are whether you intend to show yourself truthfully or not. This is fantastic!
oh it is. It's so amazing that I've seen the movie two times when it was released in the UK a month ago and his performance is still on the back of my mind. The ending scene is so honest and the performance as a whole has such a strong feeling of "truth" to it.
I think half of the reason why people like him is because of his humility... or even borderline ignorance on how talented he is. Like, seriously dude, you're great. You're a gem. Calm down. Everyone adores you.
He needs to get a nomination. In Call Me By Your Name, Timothee gave one of the most nuanced and most brilliant performances in my 50 yrs of watching film. In this interview, he is both smart and engaging. He is a joy.
He will soon be as famous as Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando... he got this special thing EVERYBODY loves and adores. He is cute like a child, sexy like a man, vulnerable like a girl, funny like a boy.. you see him, you want to protect him, hug him and kiss him... his beauty is unrivalled
The way he talks so eloquently about what he does is seriously inspiring. Such a kind, intelligent and genuine person. I can't imagine anyone else playing Elio in Call Me By Your Name and I will forever carry that story and movie with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Timmy for everything that you do, because it really means a lot to all of us.
He speaks so well. He seems like a good person to have a deep meaningful conversation with. I cannot get over how genuine and kindhearted he is throughout this whole interview. Hats off to you Timothée.
Is it weird that I am a guy, a straight guy, and I find this kid pretty attractive? Like there is some quality to him that draws you in, not just talking about his appearance but the overall vibe and intelligence that exudes from him. I feel like he has an androgynous beauty.
Also his personality and charm too... Very odd but i dare never say this in public or private. only the internet am I safe lol My wife would leave me lol
@@sweettea735 I know this is hella late but I think people can recognize beauty no matter if it is masculine or feminine without a label having to be put on them. We allow females to say whether another woman is pretty or cute and it is ok and men obviously have the same thoughts but they are not allowed to express that because it is taboo in our culture.
