Jessica Lange is a powerhouse of an actress. She is equal to Meryl Streep in every way, however she has never received all the kudos and recognition that Meryl has unfortunately. But equally as capable and riveting.
+Marc North WRONGGGG... don't get me wrong I love Jessica and all the great work she's done on AHS but she is nowhere in the league of Meryl. Compare the performances Tootsie (Jessica's Supporting actress win) to Meryl in Kramer Vs. Kramer (also Meryl's supporting actress win). I found Meryl's performance more captivating in my opinion. Let's not forget Sophie's Choice the most riveting performance of an actress of this generation, it will go down as the best whereas; with Jessica's win for best actress in the movie that I seem to forget about wasn't up to par with that of Meryl. Jessica slays on AHS and it is pretty much the single handed the best work of hers to date that I enjoy I hope she was staying that's all. P.S: I found out the movie is called Blue Sky (nice movie but I didn't feel moved enough to the point of having goosebumps) that's how I a move is going well
***** Well Apples and Oranges.. I respect your Opinion and I do agree with you I found Meryl extremely overrated in The Iron Lady it felt bland compared to her other work. The Oscar should've went to Viola Davis instead, and just like you I would love to see Jessica in more film but you know how Hollywood works they take airheads bimbos over Talent everyday. Ageism at it's finest
Jessica would have been the first person to win both acting categories in the same year if Sophie's Choice had come out any other year, Leading Actress for Frances and Supporting Actress for Tootsie
She is one of the best, most interesting, fascinating and talented human being I have ever seen. Not to mention her astonishing beauty. The way she talks, her gesticulation, her composure is so elegant and beautiful. She is also one of those people who has some sort of mysteriousness, which also makes her even more special... As one once said, there is something about her that makes you, keeps you wanting to get to know her more. She is just so incredible and inspiring.
I wanna hug this woman and look like this, act like this, talk like this when im her age. Shes a pure inspiration for women her age and younger, so smart and really beautiful. I wanna hug her so hard lol
She is the greatest actress of the past generation. I actually loved her in King kong growing up, but I think her acting on AHS has been amazing. I've started watching all of her films - Frances is a clear standout. I really wish she was in the new AHS.
So the reason why she doesn't talk about king kong that much is cause people back than shitted on her performance as Dwan I think she did a fantastic job playing the character
What a true beauty, and yes, one of our all time best actresses. I love SWEET DREAMS, wish more people have seen it. FRANCES and BLUE SKY are also devastating performances. Kudos on your Horror Story run Jessica, you're the sole reason I watched all 4 seasons!
This interview is pure gold. It went deep and revealed who Jessica is more than any other interviews, which is really hard job cause Jessica is unlike any other actors who are so pretentious and talk about social responsibility every time. She really loves acting itself, has pure love for her characters and knows to accept life uncertainty as joy with grace. And her last line in this interview is so precious.. Thank you for this interview
Honestly, I didn't know her until I saw the first series of the American horror story. Then wow... Who's that frigging genius? A strong but vulnerable performance. After that, I have seen her movies like Frances, sweet dream and blue sky etc..no wonder that she has won 2 oscars. Really hope that she can get her third Oscar as she is fucking amazing!
Oh my god, just in love with this interview. It was amazing. I love Jessica not only as an actor but especially as a human being. I love her complexity and the way she sees life and loneliness. I could spend my whole day rewatching this. And I wish it was a little longer.
There was that moment where Jessica was talking about AHS toward the end and stopped, unsure of what to say, and I swear I saw how much she misses AHS in her eyes.
Jessica Lange to me is like Kim Stanley is to her she's an inspiration and an outstanding actress. I wish I could meet her, I feel like we have a lot in common and It would be Amazing to talk with her! Imagination is an important thing and I still use it to this day and I am 16. It is a great escape I agree Jessica Jessica Lange you are phenomenal You bring a smile to my face and making my life that much better Thank you for everything
Great interview with Jessica. She seems very relaxed with you and you asked great questions. You brought out the very best of her, which is what a good interviewer does. Bravo!
I loved this interview. She really opens up about her acting history. I like that she acknowledge that fact that from 1999-2009, she didn't put the effort. I also wonder what parts she saw and could have played.
I loved king kong....Its what introduced me to this legend we call now Jessica Lange. The new 2005 King Kong movie could never match the hype of the time and the performance of this legend. Never be ashamed of King Kong 76. A definate classic of the time.
She is just fantastic. I'll admit I didn't know a lot about her before American Horror Story, but now I've gone back and watched so many of her movies. She is an incredible actress.
I love her! She is one of the loveliest, most entertaining ladies, ever. And so thoughtfully spoken and charming...you can just look in her eyes and see the wheels turning. She is, like Fiona Goode, "in charge everywhere."
Her scene with Warburg at the bank drawing money to pay his debt in the gambler movie is my favorite scene ever. The way she looked at him without saying a word was just the greatest.
This may be my favorite interview of Jessica. I come back to it every once in a while. It begins sort of rocky but then she becomes comfortable with him. then that wallop of a quote at the very end. Too bad she didn't say that earlier as I feel she could have really gotten deeper. this may have been part of a press junket and they were out of time. I had a friend who often says she's alone but never lonely. always makes me think of Jessica
Thank you for this Video for this interview! I really like Miss Lang. She is one of the best actress I have ever seen in my life. I'm watching American Horror Story since two or three months and I love it. She is a brave woman and she is very special. Thank you for this interview!
Really interesting person. I remember when I saw "Frances" in the eighties. And just after there was Tootsie. Many years after I saw Blue Sky. What is really interesting for me is when she speaks about Kim Stanley and the work. The way she works. It is rare nowadays to hear people speaking about older generations and what they learn with them. Who does speak about Kim Stanley, Géraldine Page etc etc etc? Amazing women... Thank you for posting this interview. It reminds me that intelligence, talent, sharing expériences is much more important than doing war with everybody (for example) and we really do need it these days... and thanks to these beautiful, intelligent and brave women who makes the world go round (and not crazy!)
It's actually so sad that marvelous actresses like Jessica are really underrated... their talent is known only to some which should be know to the world. And some actresses are overly overrated but have nothing to give
at 19:00 I'm guessing she's referring to the mid to late 90's concerning her work. I can remember people in the media making unkind comments and analysis about her career during that period. Jessica is such a great actress! Great interview!
When you are in the presence of greatness you know it. She is extraordinary! Unique! No one can take her place. She is a quintessential artist, I would say the greatest female actor of all time.
Jessica will always be beautiful, no matter what age💘 beauty from inside glows. Is she the last movie star? Presence is a quality so often Unmatched. I was a young kid when King Kong came out and I was very impressed by Jessica.
Absolutely the very best in an actress...she brings characters to life...very impressive in all 4 seasons of AHS...I wish she'd come back...miss her ...loved her in Frances Farmer very emotional
I do hope they do a film version of "Long Day's Journey Into Night" starring Jessica Lange, like they did with "A Streetcar Named Desire." To see Jessica Lange playing Mary Tyrone would be absolute MAGIC. When she performed the play in London, the reviews were amazing. "A stellar performance..."
Well she has since won a Tony award for reprising that role on Broadway, and now there is indeed a film coming up with her and Ed Harris. So this comment aged quite well!
When she talked about Bacall and Bogart I was like "Daaamn, yeah, of course she encountered legends!" It's crazy that people who met all the great actors (Newman, Brando, Hepburn,...) can be counted on one hand now...
It sounds like shes talking about Maladaptive daydreaming when she was a kid. I can definitely relate...completely different outcome obviously. It was such an escape. I'd spend hours in my room pretending I was in a movie or in some far off city with companions. It's incredible successful people like her did the same and it didnt get in her way but she used it productively.
When she left American Horror Story, the show lost all of its magic. She was the heart and soul of AHS. Without her, the show is on life support, and they need to pull the plug.
