Denver Police Department officers have begun shifting away from conducting low-level traffic stops, in order to prioritize incidents they deem may pose bigger threats to public safety.
If I was a drug dealer or doing other illegal activities, I would always make sure my auto was inspected daily for anything that would cause police to stop that vehicle! I do believe low level traffic stops are simply to raise revenue to militarize law enforcement as well as some other things they shouldn’t be doing, such as spending resources are trying to get ID from folk’s that have not committed any crime or infraction of anything! They stand there and call in other resources to get an ID illegally! Plus this often cost the tax payers money because of some damned inept cop with a huge ego and no brains!
The fact that the Police Union actually said something like “how are we gonna randomly search for drugs now” out loud is astounding, like lmao dude you can’t give away your entire hand like that
This is a shameful policy. Without enforcement, there is zero compliance. You can see it every day when driving. If someone has an unregistered vehicle, they're also going to have it uninsured. Let's say they drive dangerously, and then crash into someone. Now they've caused serious damages and have no way to pay for them. It should not be everyone else's responsibility to need to get comprehensive coverage to make up for police departments not enforcing the law. It'll just drive up the cost of insurance for everyone else in our community. They should be pulling people over for ANY probable cause they witness.
