We got the DPF off from an BMW 320 D 150 HP and took the filter out. After that, the car was driving much better and the power increases with around 10 - 20 HP. No extra smoke afterwards.

This work was done by a car that its not driving on public streets. For cars to drive on public streets its illegal to take the DPF off.

I removed the DPF. I did not make it for tuning. so ... no explosion.

you should of cut the dpf out and replaced with a pipe the same size, then weighed in your dpf as scrap (ive had £150 plus for some dpf's and cats) useless

this is not dpf, this is a normal katalisator, the E46 haven't got dpf, just the E90 and later

@@GMBestMotors nope. There is no e46 diesel with dpf. The last series have euro4 without dpf. Dpf was aftermarket solution for euro3 diesel. Euro4 came in the late 2004-2005 last gen e46. They have electric vtg turbo and other injectors.

e46 doesn't have a dpf!! not even 2005 and 2006 e90 dont have a dpf if the exhaust tail pipe is facing down it doesn't have one.my 2008 bmw e90 has a dpf which i have taken out has been remapped from 177bhp. to 226 bhp. with a lot more torque.!

Good lord! You actually removed the catalyst. I just hope you realized the mistake soon enough and removed the actual filter as well. Otherwise the engine will explode. And the 10-20 hp gain is complete bullshit, as the power is controlled by the ecu. you might get better throttle response but the power stays the same if you not tune it.

some BMW engines do gain powwer from this ;) all tds or the first m57 // all big petrol engines with more than 6 cilinders =D that have cats .

Explode? Thats a bit funny affermation, the catalyst filter will fail after some time, same thing for the dpf, and replacing those costs a lot of money, do your research 😉
