This debacle is a great justification for Jamaica to create a new constitution. For example, PM, DPP and police commissioner needs to be elected nationally.
All the noise about the DDP extension and taking it to court and all this nonsense. The question about this is When did the JUDGE ,THE COURT were* GIVEN responsibility * to amend,adjust,repeal,dismiss any country's *constitution *. Which ARM of Government makes etc ,repeal etc the Connstitution ? Isn't it our Retired Nominated Politicians? So is anything about the making or repealing or amending of the Constitution the Judiciary job or is the court overstepping its independent role and boundary by interfering with the Executive Arm of this Government. Who are the appointed SENATORS who are endowed with this * job* in particular. Why are the Government of Jamaica *Senators * so quiet on the crucial matter.? 2. In the controversial case ..Where is the deceased man's body ? There is a hush on this TRUTH - and as the Fact of the case are yet to be seen to be tried. Some one died, and the topic is all the haste about the DDP - using her name as a distraction- while hiding the meat of the matter. WHERE IS THE DECEASED BODY ? WHAT ABOUT THE VICTIMS ? This is my open reprimand to the Bar Association. “Leaders must lead” (Mia Motley). When the fire of uncertainty and chaos surrounding the Supreme Court ruling was at its peak in society, the Bar Association said nothing. Even when the Minister of Justice, Delroy Chuck, and the Attorney General made misleading statements about the judgment, the Bar Association said nothing. Ms. Larmond's ability to articulate the Bar Association position so well 72 hours after the storm is unacceptable, and in the future, we would like to see her Association be the first responder to any constitutional fire. The Bar Association, one of our society's most important guardrails, does not appear to understand their role in it. The Bar Association must understand that they do not have the luxury of sitting by the side and waiting for the fire to be extinguished before running in with their bucket of water. It is unacceptable that we are only hearing from the Bar Association 72 hours after the public uncertainty has smoldered and after leading attorneys like Mr. Hugh Wildman intervene in his private capacity to point the way forward.
