Did Khomeini stay true to Shariati ideals? Please correct me if Im wrong, but didn't he take out the clerical class shortly after his ascension?
@Historyun
@Historyun 8 дней назад
@@HishamR89 Khomeini was not a Shariatist, he had his own plans and school of political theory (Wilayat-e-Faqih). Shariati simply made it easier for a Khomeini to step in and capitalise on popular sentiment at the time. But to answer the question, Khomeini was in many ways the archetype spoken of in Shariati's work. He was revolutionary, pious (according to 12r Shia perspective) and a restorative force in Iranian society
@HishamR89
@HishamR89 8 дней назад
@@Historyun So he rode the wave of Shariarti movement. Wilayat Faqih was a minority position prior to his emergence to the leadership position. But he used that as from my basic understanding to get the clerics on his side. They very shortly came to realize that they were played and he was looking to effectively be a King. Id like to get your thoughts and analysis of that time period and Khomenei's character and conduct in the very early days.

As someone who was read many of the works of Ali Shariati, I would say that his thought was more in line with Dr. Mosadegh than khomeini. Shariatis vision for an islamic government was a government without the domination of the clergy. Shariati was even criticized by shia scholars for having unorthodox views which were more closer to the Sunni view.
@Historyun
@Historyun 8 дней назад
That is valid since Shariati was essentially an advocate for Radical Shia Socialism however he drew closer to the ideals and anti-establishment rhetoric of Khomeini later on in his career. Mosadegh hadn't bridged that space Shariati was the missing link.

Thank you for the insightful and informative video. However, I believe that the role of Ayatollah Khomeini may have been somewhat overshadowed in favor of Dr. Ali Shariati's contributions. While Dr. Shariati's intellectual influence is undeniably significant, the unique leadership and ideological impact of Khomeini should not be understated. A more balanced perspective that acknowledges the distinct efforts and contributions of both figures would provide a more comprehensive understanding of their roles in shaping historical events. Also, I would appreciate it if you could share your name and a brief bio for context, as I am new to this channel. Thank you.

Shia Muslim and Sunni Muslim are brothers and sisters in Islam as they all believe that Muhammad pbuh was the last Messenger and that Allah SWT is the ONE TRUE GOD! Whoever wants to cause a conflict using this argument of Ali Ra having been the true successor and not Abu Bakr Ra or Omar ibn Al khattab after the Prophet Muhammad pbuh then whatever happened in the past may have been the beginning of the sectarianism that the Prophet Muhammad pbuh warned us about. It is a noble thought but there are some vast differences. In fact it can be argued that the Shia don't even accept the five pillars of sunni Islam. I have studied with Shia in my younger days and it was an eye opener. Most sunnis are woefully ignorant of the tenets of ithnaa aashari. The differences are far greater than that of succession.

I’m sort of watching this a few minutes at time and 6 minutes I’m realising if Khomeini is registered as the khilafah then the Saudis would most likely to see Iran defeated by Isreal and the West. Is that fair assessment or am I way off? Or would they view a fight between the two similar to Rome vs Persia? It’s an extremely messy situation regardless, way worse than I could’ve imagine! 😢

@Historyun To answer you Challenge regarding revival of Islam coming from the West. I would argue that there is a sort of an interaction with between the two. It is not a matter of being more pious or more active or even formulating ideas (from a Western perspective) However movements that have their origin in the hardland of the Muslims have branched out to the West due to various reasons. The expression of ideas formulated by these movements has been, up until relatively recently, easier. In absense of persecution more room to publicly platform these ideas. In the West the state, it's intelligence and security apparatus work differently, also based upon the (empty) slogans they have based their societies on there is/was relatively more room to openly express views, despite their ideological rejection and the assault on Islam under what is called the War on Terror. So in a sense the ripples in the water coming from the West should actually create a certain awareness in the hardland of the Muslims, stimulate intellectually and motivate by the example of Muslims in the West. (From a competitive view) And the strengh of this interaction has not gone unnoticed by the Western regimes, which in my view proves the point to be valid. The West in general has targetted the idea and sense of being One Ummah, has pressured Muslims in the West to embrace a Western national identity first over the identity of being a Muslim who is part of the Ummah who happens to reside here or there. Here in the Netherlands in 2020 we had lets say congressional hearings where they summoned various individuals representing various Islamic movements under the guise of their worries about financial influence from Muslim countries. In reality these weeks of hearings where more about concepts and ideas than financing. It is problematic for oppressors in the Muslim world to combat ideas that are platformed in the West. And do not forget, what I will say are the words of Umar Ibn Khattab (ra) when he said: "Verily, the bonds of Islam will undone, one by one, only if there arise people in Islam who never knew the time of ignorance.” The colonized countries have been subject to centuries or decades of orientalism, having curricula deformed and reformed, having been destoyed, beaten on the battle field and conquered. Which will drive it's inhabitants to a certain admiration for the conquerer and his way of life. Many of those you discus have come to the west and have adopted western thought (Liberalism, Socialism, Capitalism etc) in an effort to revive the Ummah. It means ideas have crept into the hearts and minds of Muslims that are foreign to the Deen more often than not unnoticed. So Jahiliyyah has been adopted and the carrier of those ideas either thinks they are Islamic or doesn't recognize the conflict and contradiction. Now us in the West have tasted Jahiliyyah, it was our lifestyled, we where the definition of Jahiliyyah. When presented the contrast and alternative that is Islam our rejection is one of actual experience. The "La" negation in our Shahada has a certain degree of depth, because many of us till a lesser or greater extent have a strong aversion to elements of Western ideologies and way of Life. Elements that made us turn away when recognizing the Truthfullness of the Message of Islam (about them). So when Umar said: Never knew Jahiliyyah. It is about recognizing external and internal Jahiliyyah in my opinion. While we leave the places of Music and entertainment others are opening the gates. While we have tasted the results, they who newly introduced it are in for a tough societal ride down the line, fornication, adultery, heartbreak, childderen outside of wedlock, alcohol, drugs, crime, accidents, influence on individuals, family and broader society and all related and affected things unmentioned. Having said all that Islam will not be established or arise from anywhere except the hardland of the Muslims. We just hope to play our part.

To be fair, Iqbal shouldn’t be counted as a conservative. He was a progressive Islamist and more spiritual in his tendencies than dogmatic. His close connections with the Ahmadiyya sect/religion, whatever you wanna call them has been very open. i believe that Iqbal disassociated with mirza qadiani after he learned about his deviancy, i also believe that Iqbal was not Muslim religious Scholar per se, he was a very accomplished poet hence the title Allama Iqbal, he wrote a long poem named Shikwah for which he was declared an apostate, later he wrote Jawaab e Shikwah which cleared the misunderstanding of his first poem (Shikwah)

Kitab Al Tahara of Ayatollah Khomeini - Vol. 3, page 457 As for the other groups of the Nawasib, actually the Khawarij, even though they’ll get the more punished then the Kuffar, yet this is not proving them to be Najis (impure). Hence if a Sultan makes Khurooj (opposes/fights) Amir Al-Mu’minin - ‘alaihis-salam - not for religious reason, rather for worldly reason (seeking power) or other motives like Aaisha, Zubair, Talha, Mu’aawiya and their likes, or if someone holds Nasb/enmity towards him or one of the [twelve] Imams (ع), not due to religious reason rather because of his enmity towards the Quraish, or Bani Hashim or the Arabs or because [Ali] killed one of his children or his father etc. Apparently none of those are necessarily considered Najis (impure) from an apparent point of view, although in fact they are more impure than dogs and pigs. No amount of revisionism or 'objective' leanings will sway the learnerd, on the past and current rawafid regime.
