You can actually eat something from a list they should offer. You have to ask for the list. Also you can chat with your ob and see if you can just do the finger pokes and they can gage from that. Especially if you are so sick. Hugs
I checked my blood sugar at home with my glucose monitor to get diagnosed! It was so much better than drinking the drink when you’re already sick. I’d ask for another option! I did the alternative twice that I tested at home and both those times I did it that way I had gestational diabetes. I had 4 csections and never had to drink anything before them.
The fresh test was way easier for me! It tastes better, I had none of the crummy side effects, and it just tasted like lemonade (if you can swing that taste). There is also a jellybean alternative, some people use the green machine naked juice, and there are some other alternatives. Your provider should be very open to helping make this as easy as possible for you.
Yes, the little shot of medicine they give you before a c-section is horrid! Any liquid medicine is so difficult to take knowing there's going to be a taste thats never pleasant and most often your not allowed anything to take out the horrible taste that's left in your mouth. Zoe some things we have to do for our baby’s and our own health that is not fun but you’ll get through it. Don’t refuse it altogether love. Your baby deserves the best start and you’ll never forgive yourself if you don’t do it and sometimes important is missed. Certainly ask the experts about alternatives to the drink but don’t miss it all together because a few people online are willing to take unnecessary risks. Best of luck for Friday. I was sick 24-7 and I had to keep skipping out on the test because I couldn’t drink that sugary drink. I just ate like I might have diabetes and was fine. I pray your nausea eases up soon. Let your OB know and tell them you will just throw it up immediately and they should be able to just do a blood test.

I did orange juice and fruit instead of the drink it just has to equal the same amount of sugar as the drink. That drink is so unhealthy I've never been able to drink it without throwing up.
I love your mom, she is cool. I'm glad she gets to be here for this baby. I hated the glucose test too and I thought the orange flavor was the best. I also had c-sections and I had to drink that stuff too. It's to neutralize your stomach acids for the c-section. I also had morning sickness all day. I was hospitalized for my pregnancies because I was dehydrated from throwing up all the time. I hope you start feeling better soon to enjoy your pregnancy but it's all worth it at the end. I had gestational diabetes with my first baby, so I knew the symptoms, like getting kind of dizzy when I don’t eat enough. With my other two I had the same symptoms, so I declined the test and just tested my sugar levels like they require and since they were never bad I didn’t need medication
I’m a retired RN, just monitoring your Blood Sugar with the GCM and you remember the way you were before. You need to explain to the doctor how things were before.

Been there done that. With my first baby, I think I threw up all over town. I kept grocery bags under my cars seat just for that purpose. One day I felt sick and reached to get a bag and my husband had cleaned the car so no bags. Had to open the car door and just threw up in the parking lot, then casually walked into the pizza place to pick up my families dinner. A man saw me and was just stunned. Oh, the things we go thru. I was then put on bedrest, so the town was saved. I had the diabetes test, I think mine was orange and believe it or not I kept it down long enough to do the test. Good luck! Blessings!!!❤🙏🙏🙏
Yeah but it’s really up to your OB. I brought up the jelly bean thing and he was like “no that’s not very common”. He ended up just having me check it at home with a glucose monitor for 2 weeks.
I did the orange and then they said I could have eaten a candy bar. It is important because it can cause really bad things for mom and baby. I had a 6lb 9 oz baby 6 1/2 weeks early. They said he would have been 13 or 14 lbs if I would have carried him full term. We ended up staying in the NICU for 2 weeks
I know what shot you're talking about before a c section. It's awful. As soon as I lay down I start getting sick and I throw up the whole time. My second c section I was throwing up so much that I was coughing just to breath and they had to suction my mouth. I'm thankful to be able to have my kids since I struggled with infertility the first 7 years of trying for a baby that I would take the sickness cause I keep telling myself you will be in the recovery room soon. But it does suck and I dread that part and the getting an iv because my veins run and hide. God bless and hopefully it goes smoothly!!!!!
You can decline the drink before your C-section. It's supposed to neutralize the stomach acid so if you get sick during surgery it's not as bad. But with my last one I declined it. 23 yrs ag
Hey Zoe For each of my 3 pregnancies I ate jelly beans.. I don't remember how many but that was an option. hopefully it can be an option for you. It might make it easier. Congratulations ❤
There is a different test. I have no idea what it is but when i was pregnant with my 2nd it was covid rules and they were doing these other blood tests that didn't require the drink and didn't require the sitting around for the 1hour+ between. Id definately do some research and ask your doctor!
Ask your doctor but here and Canada there’s like 3 different types of texts for it. There’s one where you test for a week, No wacky drinks needed haha just your regular diet.
My mum and I use to joke and say a man must have called it morning sickness because for me it was morning noon and night lol hope all goes well for u zoe❤

I think the drink you are talking about before your c section is to stop nausea after the spinal block wears off....I had three c sections and I remember the last one I was very itchy all over afterwards and they just gave me a tablet and it was all cool, it was a side effect from it
I’ve had three c sections and I know exactly the drink you’re talking about. It’s for nausea I think. But ironically, the drink is what caused me to throw up 🥴
Orange juice…grapes…jelly beans can be an alternative. I couldn’t hold down the drink after trying so many times and finally they told me to try one of those 3 and it worked but you should consult your physician or a midwife so they can measure out the proper amount to be equivalent to what would be in the glucose drink. You can try the alternatives of the fresh test they have a lemonade flavor that’s good my midwife also gave the option of kedem grape juice 12oz or even the naked shake the green machine one you just need 50 grams of sugar I did the naked drink
Look up the fresh test! I did it with my daughter and was able to keep it down. It tastes like lemonade and is the only safe alternative on the market!
I had to do the glucose test early I was 16 weeks then when I hit 24 weeks pregnant I hate that drink for C-sections I gotta have my third C-section in July
Some places in central drinks have jellybeans like candy form of it, But sometimes you have no choice to drink that the juice. The nasty liquid stuff when you bring it gross,
I just checked my blood sugar for about 2 months. Because I couldn’t do it. I dialed my first one. And then I opted not to do the 3 hour. Bc that stuff made me feel awful.
That drink is awful!!! For my first three pregnancies I drank a can coke and ate a candy bar. I had to eat and drink them in a 15-30 minute window, then I think they took the test about an hour later. It was rough, because it was a lot of sugar. But that drink was way worse. I never had morning sickness, but it made me want to throw up. Praying you get good results on your test.

You had to take a sour drink before your csections? I only had one of 4 (my last and final bb) and I didn’t take anything and was fasting before it and only allowed to drink a 1/2 cup apple juice (which I hated when pregnant) and that was it. Glucose test! I asked for the orange one as it tasted like the orange creamsicle but I can chug things 😅. so excited to see your journey on being a mom of 4 earth side baby’s. And seeing your connection with your mom grow too! My mom is a recovering addict and it heals my little child in me when I see her playing with them ❤.
i don’t know what i feel the need to say this but i hate that i’m getting aggravated over the fact that everything plays twice from a different camera like she isn’t a full blown human being going through something atm. social media really does mess up your prospects of things. I had to stop myself and take a step back an realize for a sec.

If it’s inconclusive, just tell them you want to go straight to the testing and decline the 3 hour test. That sour drink is horrible! Believe it or not it’s supposed to prevent nausea during the c-section. Yeah, didn’t work on me, you can figure out the rest…good luck, Zoe. You’re doing great!
